Audio: Helen Asante Admits,’I’m Scared Of Nadia Buari’!

Hellen Asante

When GhanaCelebrities.Com spoke with Nadia Buari after grabbing a nomination in the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ category for the upcoming Ghana Movie Awards, she said “…wow it’s good news. It makes me know that at least my works are appreciated. I just wasn’t looking forward to it. My mind was basically opened.”

Though the fast growing and outspoken actress, Helen Asante is excited about her nomination too, she is somehow pessimistic about winning the award on Christmas day.

Nadia was nominated for a hardcore-Police-Officer-role in the hugely successful movie ‘Who Owns The City’, produced by HM Films and directed by Nollywood big boy Ifeanyi Inyeabor.

Readers’ Mail: Can Nadia Buari Or Yvonne Nelson Ever Win Best Actress Award? Spare Us The BS!

John Dumelo, Majid Michel, Juliet Ibrahim, Nadia Buari, Nikki Somonas, Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson, Leila Djansi, Abdul Salam, Fred Nuamah At Canes

Hello GhanaCelebrities.Com,

First of all, let me congratulate the minds behind this informing and educative Ghanaian online platform-GhanaCelebrities.Com. I am so much late in finding this Blog as I only stumbled upon it last Friday during my search for the latest Ghanaian movie stories to help me with a project.

So far my weekend has been amazing since I have spent hours upon hours reading through some of the interesting articles (especially Ghana Movies related articles) and comments on here. I did not know such a platform which documents in detail developments in the Ghanaian Entertainment Industry exists.

After going through several pages and comments, I have come to quickly realize how much some of the visitors/readers of this website are undermining the achievements of tall standing Actresses like Jackie Appiah and Ama K. Abebrese.

It seems pure hate is constantly being channelled towards these two achieving women especially Jackie Appiah who has won Best Actress-both Africa and Ghana (African Movie Awards and Ghana Movie Awards). Currently, who can be compared to such a talent in the Ghanaian movie industry?

Ama K. Abebrese on the other hand in months after joining the industry fought her way to Africa to win Africa’s Best Actress Award, throwing the likes of Genevieve Nnaji straight into the gutters! What is more of an achievement than this? What were those who have been in the industry for donkey years doing? Showing their pretty selves on screens I guess.

Why is it that, Ghanaians especially readers of this platform seem to find it difficult to accord these two hard working ladies the necessary respect and support? Those with talent and the edge to work forward must be encouraged and supported and not those who are simply in movies because of their looks!

Adjetey ‘Pusher’ Anang Thinks Lydia Forson, Yvonne Okoro & Nadia Buari Are Ghana’s Current Best Actresses, Not Jackie Appiah

Lydia Forson
Lydia Forson

Talented and versatile Ghanaian actor Adjetey Anang, mostly known as ‘Pusher’ due to a bad boy role he played in the television series ‘Things We Do For Love’ has swerved star actress Jackie Appiah in an interview with GhanaCelebrities.Com.

He swerved the star actress for Lydia Forson, Yvonne Okoro and Nadia Buari.

Always smiling Jackie Appiah won the ‘Best Actress’ Award at the 2010 edition of the Ghana Movie Awards but Adjetey Anang regards her as a veteran and not necessarily the best actress in Ghana.

Pusher acknowledged that Jackie can be considered as a veteran but he honestly feels the best actresses in Ghana now are Lydia Forson, Yvonne Okoro and Nadia Buari.

Yvonne Okoro co-won Ghana Movie Awards’ 2010 Best Actress Award with Jackie Appiah with two other actresses. Nadia Buari on the other hand isGhana’s current Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

For Lydia Forson, Adjetey concurred that though she has not been featured in lots of movies, she is one hell of a good actress. It also seems that, she is the only one Adjetey considers as the very best of the best.

Readers’ Mail: Do These Local Champions Really Think They Are Celebrities?

Confidence Haugen
Confidence Haugen

Hello Chris-Vincent,

I know your blog is called GhanaCelebrities.Com but please give me a space as a loyal reader to call a spade a spade.

You cannot imagine how livid I am after reading your post titled ‘Treat Us Like Celebrities…What About Behave Like Celebrities?

To be frank, until I came across this blog, I did not know any celebrity existed in Ghana. Even if any existed, I certainly did not think the person will come from our low-key entertainment industry.

It is annoying to see the likes of Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, John Dumelo, Majid Michel and others flaunting around as celebrities with no achievement to their names. It gets even more annoying when these talentless and no-achievers come out demanding to be treated as celebrities.

And guess the sort of treatment they are demanding? They do not want to join queues at Banks and other public places. They think they should be allowed to jump queues because they are LOCAL CHAMPIONS…

Do these so called Ghanaian Celebrities know who a celebrity is at all? Let me do some coaching here and they better pay me after this…LOL

Yvonne Nelson Speaks On Being Mercy Johnson’s Bridesmaid

Mercy Johnson And Yvonne Nelson
Mercy Johnson And Yvonne Nelson

You may by now know my stand as far as the whole Mercy Johnson wedding is concerned. Wrecking a family somewhere to make one is absolute absurd to me and the wedding is a prototype.

I detest such immoral acts as much as those who play central part in making it happen…This reminds of an adage my Uncle used to tell me when I was young. It goes like….The lizard on the wall is not very much pissed off by the little boy who throws a stone at it but then the friend of the boy standing  beside him, giving him appraisals and saying, you got a good eye for hitting the lizard on spot…

Yvonne Nelson Is The Next Husband Snatcher, Morality At Its Lowest Level

Behind laws, what defines most right thinking individuals is morals. The argument as to which comes first can never be settled. This and others signify how essential  morals shape our lives.
