Controversial broadcaster, Blakk Rasta, has said that Vodafone Ghana should withdraw their sponsorship for VGMA for two years to punish Charterhouse for the embarrassment they have caused the country during the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Award.
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy’s battle at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) has really gone against Ghana as a nation, sponsors of the event and most especially Charterhouse, the main organizers of the event.
Charterhouse has, however, apologized to their main sponsor Vodafone Ghana, BET international representatives and all other stakeholders who were affected by the actions of these two artistes in a press statement signed by their Head of Communications, George Quaye.

This is simply unbelievable. This is all we know in this country, isn’t it? Making mountains out of molehills and leaving the real job, satisfying your damn customers- undone.
A 20 year old IT expert, identified as Kwadwo Amakye, has been arrested for ‘defaming’ a Vodafone scratch card. Amakye edited the try again in the Yee Twi Ko scratch card to make it read ‘Kwasia, s3 wop3 sika adi’.
Almost everyone does not read the small print and as such saying Vodafone Ghana does not have the legal right to bombard its subscribers with advertisement text messages may be wrong—but at least, subscribers reserve the right to opt out of the many annoying text messages the telecommunication company keeps sending out.
Almost every day that I have been in Ghana, I’ve received some sort of advertisement such as the above from Vodafone Ghana and my friends who are other networks say, the value is the same.
It’s repugnant that Vodafone Ghana’s numerous text message advertisements to it subscribers do not have the usual STOP instructions.
In the UK which is somewhat the home of Vodafone, there is no way the network will be able to “pelt” it subscribers with countless messages such as what is being allowed in Ghana, let alone failing to provide the means via which subscriber can opt out of these irritating commercials.
What a good topic to kick start the new GC’s Lifestyle column-THE BIG QUESTION… I am yet to meet a Ghanaian who has not been ripped off by one of the many telecommunication companies in Ghana in a way of bad/poor service. One basic expectation of any consumer is to get his/her money worth. However, when it comes to our part of the world, no matter how much of a demand you make, you are still likely to be given less value for your hard earned cash. A sector which champions this disproportionate relationship between what they offer and what consumers pay is telecommunication. Most of the networks in Ghana are a mess… You do not have to be with them to know how poor they are with their services. Their customers will easily give you the vibe from their facial expressions and unending complaints. If the phone of every person you try to reach is not SWITCHED OFF, then all the people you are calling are busy on their phones.
Singer Denice Williams, whose superb performance and singing abilities helped her group R&M [Rhythm & Melody] made up of herself, Stephanie Lindsey Baaba and Natasha Dedey Mannto fend-off competitions from other groups to win the maiden edition of the Vodafone Icons Divas Edition has been kicked out from the group which is struggling to imprint their name in the minds of music lovers in Ghana.
Information available to GhanaCelebrities.Com indicates that, even though Denice is considered by many as the heartbeat of the group, she was sacked from the group without any reasons. It is believed that, her outspoken nature and no nonsense attitude might be the reason for her expulsion from the group.

It is extremely difficult to sue a company in Ghana and come out as a victor. No musician is known to have gone to court to sue a major company for copyright infringement. However, a bold step has been taken by D-Black and Kwaku T to sue Vodafone Ghana for illegal use of their song.
Whenever one buys a Compact Disc, some words which serve as a warning to copyright abusers are printed on the CD inlay and on the CD itself. If you ask me, those words are not printed there just for the fun of it; they are there to send a clear signal to people who are there to infringe on the copyright owners.
Words printed on the CD and inlay: “All rights of the producer and the owner of the recorded work reserved for unauthorized copying, public performing, broadcasting, hiring or rental of this recording is prohibited”.
As the words printed visibly on the CD, phone numbers, email contacts or website of the artistes or the record label is also printed just beside the warnings. So when a big telecom company like Vodafone refuses to do the right thing by contacting the copyright owners before using their product in their commercial advert; they are asking for one thing, to get sued for copyright infringement.
