We all live in a world where self-sacrificing love has become a major problem. People do not think about the welfare of others anymore. Gone are the days when a person could sacrifice his/her time, work, and other valuable things just to make sure his/her neighbor is fine. Same cannot be said about that strength of character today. The wind of selfishness is now blowing everywhere.
People are more self-centered now than before. The effects of the self-centered philosophy of me-first are far-reaching indeed. Unfortunately, all of us are subconsciously affected by the fruits produced by this mentality. We put ourselves first in everything we do, yet we fail to realize the effect is cyclic. It goes round and round, and affect all of us negatively in the long run.
Me-firsters have the same doctrine of ‘Do your own thing’. When analysed carefully, this phrase has a strong connotation. It urges a person to do whatever he/she feels like doing, whether it will affect others negatively or not. After all, nobody owns anyone.
