From afar, this seems like none of my ‘goddam’ business. After all, if a young lady living in the US or UK is stupid enough to work her butt off at one of those Super Markets and decide to hand her hard earned cash to a Ghanaian movie star or musician, what has that got to do with me?
However, I wish things were simple and I did not have to receive numerous calls and emails from many of these hurt and duped ladies living abroad.
Up to now, I still cannot understand why anyone will buy plane tickets and continue to shop for a celebrity, all in the name of a relationship which the former thinks will bring marriage.
On a reasonable evaluation, isn’t it the celebrity who must rather spend some cash if it becomes necessary? Why must the innocent young girl or man struggling through education and working hard to fix his/her life spend on any Ghanaian celebrity?
For the last few years (I have decided to write about this today because I just got off the phone with another victim), I have received emails and phone calls from persons (mostly young ladies) in UK, USA and Canada who claim to have been cheated out of money/scammed by certain Ghanaian Celebrities.
