Dancehall artiste-Shatta Wale is at it again and this time, he is not running after Charter House—instead he has descended on Hitz Fm’s Taxi Driver presenter-Blakk Rasta, calling him a fake rastaman. Real name-Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr., Shatta Wale in an interview on Showbiz Review on Hitz FM said, Blakk Rasta is fake and … Read more
So the two prodigal sons-Shatta Wale and Sarkodie teamed up on Saturday night, the very time the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was being held to stage a 10GHS beach jam in Accra for their fans—they called it, for the masses and called the VGMAs for the elites… The photos below show why these two musicians … Read more
It’s obvious that Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) is the biggest awards scheme in Ghana at the moment. For the past 15 years, Charter House (organizers of VGMAs) have been awarding outstanding Ghanaian musicians, as well as other African artistes.
One thing that the organizers have not been able to run away from is the hullabaloos surrounding the whole awards scheme. At least one musician would have some grievances to voice out each year.
One of such musicians is the reigning VGMA artiste of the year – Shatta Wale. Last year, Shatta Wale did not make it to the conference center where the award was held because Charter House could not come to terms with him on the amount he wanted as performance fee.
This resulted in a whole lot of uproars in the Ghanaian media. This has pushed the self-acclaimed dancehall king to inform Charter House that he does not want to be part of the award scheme this year.
Ghana’s finest rapper, Sarkodie, was also in the news few days ago. According to him, Charter House had used his name to promote the award when they had not paid him the performance fee he had requested.
Shatta Wale’s issues with Charter House are legendary, so it’s not surprising after another artiste seems to be singing his tune he would throw his support behind them.
In his typical no holds barred fashion; Shatta threw his support behind Sarkodie. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Shatta tweet without some insults. He called any artiste who wouldn’t support what Sarkodie is saying is an animal.
For once a lot agree with Shatta, except for the animal part.

The Ghanaian music industry is full of vampires—those who claim to be angels but continue to take unfair advantage of upcoming artistes with talent. In a new song titled-My Star Sign, Ghana’s self acclaimed dancehall King-Shatta Wale has taken his fans back to his beginning, talking about how some known names cheated him and f**ked … Read more
Since we never cut through the crap in Ghana and you have millions of gullible people who would believe things like this, we will continue to hear such things thrown at us for consumption.
There were social media speculations last week that Shatta Wale was visited at his hotel in London by uniform Metropolitan Policemen just to catch sight of Ghana’s dancehall King—because they have heard a lot about him.
First of all, I am not going to trash this because when you read BullDog who is the manager of Shatta Wale’s account of what happened below—you would be able to spot the garbage being peddled here yourself.
Of course, London policemen have nothing to do with their time like Ghana Police so 20 of them will leave whatever they are doing or vacate their post to go and see Shatta Wale in his hotel.
Jay-Z, Rihanna, Beyonce and every body ever famous come to London on a regular basis and yet they do not get 20 London policemen to come and visit them as fans—but Shatta Wale came all the way from Africa, a small country called Ghana and 20 policemen rushed to go and see him, perhaps for autograph as well.
In this day and age, why can’t we see photos of these 20 policemen who came to visit Shatta?
PRO of Charterhouse, Mr. George Nii Armah Quaye, has disclosed that though counsel for Shatta Wale is pleading for out of court settlement in the on-going defamation case, they will not settle for that.
George made this revelation when he was interviewed on Entertainment Ghana on 11th Nov, 2014. “We want the court to settle the matter. Not that we don’t believe in the ADR. It is a very good option that is why it’s there in our laws.
“But looking at the nature of this matter, the personal attacks, insults, there are even certain elements of threats – we want the court to settle this matter for us. At the end of the day, if some damages are pronounced, we all in the entertainment industry will learn from it.
“We want everything to stay at the court. It will be better if we leave both parties to allow the court to handle everything totally so that at the end of the day, we will be able to have a better understanding and work together in harmony.”
The recent Tigo Unplugged concert held at the national stadium saw Shatta Wale perform on the stage – though Charterhouse organized the show. Some have already started speculating that it’s Tigo that contracted Shatta and not, Charterhouse – due to the seemingly friction between them now.
When GhanaCelebrities.Com contacted George, he confirmed that it’s Charterhouse that contracted Shatta Wale.
I am not a copyright expert but surely, even those without legal brains can clearly see that a legal case can spring out of an artiste performing the songs of another artiste, without express permission or cover royalties having been paid—especially at concerts where he has taken money from the organizers to perform.
Since this is happening in Ghana, no one may get sued and also, because it is Shatta Wale doing it to Samini’s songs, any attempt by the latter to seek redress in court or to protect his intellectual property from such infringement would possibly be met with all manner of fans’ attack.
But the fact remains that; in law and even when perched against common sense, you cannot take money from an event organizer to perform—and while out there, just decide to perform the song(s) of another artiste without permission or without the event organisers paying the artiste the required fees for the cover. That is a clear violation of the other artiste’s copyright and a slap in the face of the copyright legislation.
Interestingly, Shatta Wale has done this twice or so and no one including MUSIGA or the various bodies which seek to protect the works of Ghanaian artistes has called him to order—or brought to his attention that his actions are in breach of the law.
According to Daily Guide, the self-acclaimed ‘Dancehall King’, brutally assaulted a man he owes. Per the report in the newspaper, the man, who gave his name as Rashid Abu, claimed Shatta Wale owed him an amount of GH₵ 150.
Efforts to collect his money from the musician proved futile. Rashid claimed Shatta Wale even insults him (Rashid) whenever he calls his (Shatta Wale) phone to demand for his money.
From the shot of the above court document received, it seems Charter House is first seeking interlocutory injunction to prevent Shatta Wale from recording more videos—this is pretty absurd to me, because what shows Shatta Wale was going to record more videos as if it was an on-going daily or weekly recording sessions.
But then, that is the law so Charter House has asked the Court that before the determination of their defamation suit against Shatta Wale, they should first order him or place an injunction on him to maintain the status quo—and by this, order him to shut the f*c up.
This will definitely be interesting…

We’ve received a response from Shatta Wale’s manager-BullDog (real name Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson) who confirmed that they’ve indeed been sued by Charter House and they’ve been effectively served.
In a world governed by laws, you cannot throw out certain words and not be expected to come after—therefore, it is not shocking that we’ve been told Charter House has sued Ghanaian dancehall artiste-Shatta Wale, citing defamation as the cause of action.
In law, you can be offensive and try to seek cover under Free Speech or the expression of opinion (let’s say insult whoever you want) but the moment you step into making certain statements of facts which could be false, then you are getting yourself into trouble.
Therefore, Shatta Wales’ statements of fraud and favouritism are the likely options to have fetched him the lawsuit.
But then again, anyone can sue anyone in law—the problem is, will the one bringing the claim be able to prove and in this case on balance of probabilities that they’ve truly been defamed in law?
For instance, in 2008, Nebraska state senator-Ernie Chambers sued God to sought a permanent injunction to prevent the “death, destruction and terrorisation” caused by God. Of course the court threw out his lawsuit on the grounds that there is no known address to effectively serve God despite Chambers’ arguments that God is omniscient and therefore he will know of the lawsuit against Him.
For this defamation claim, Charter House is asking for a whopping 10 million cedis in damages and series of orders including an order by the court to compel Shatta Wale to record similar videos apologizing to them.
GhanaCelebrities.Com has reached out Shatta Wale’s manager-BullDog and we are yet to get a response.
Charter House, the organizers of the annual Ghana Music Awards and owners of the Entertainment centred TV station-GhOne must have stepped on the toes of Ghanaian dancehall artiste-Shatta Wale—ONCE AGAIN.
The music star with quite a good number of followers have recorded a video, sending insults to those in charge of Charter House.
According to Shatta Wale, the CEOs of Charter House (we guess he is talking about Mr & Mrs Ayoade) have asked their employees not to play his videos or talk about him on their TV station-Ghone.
And that, Deborah Vanessa of Uncle Obama fame was given this directive which somehow, he has been made aware of…
He went on to say that; a lot of people are aware of the fact that artistes are awarded at the annual Ghana Music Awards organised by Charter House not based on merit—but fraud and favouritism take the lead.
Beef in the world of music among artistes do not live on forever—and if Nas & Jay-Z’s beef came to an end, then whatever industry beef anyone has will eventually find peace.
Ghanaian dancehall artiste-Shatta Wale who has been on the neck of Samini for many months seems to be looking for that peace talk to end the rivalry between Samini fans and his fans.
Speaking on Pluzz FM, Shatta Wale proposed a UNITY concert with Samini, saying he is ready to pay Samini to be part of this concert.
“I propose a Samini-Shatta Wale show. The fans really want it. We are not enemies but he has made it so. I will pay him Gh80,000 for him to come and perform if he will accept my request” Shatta Wale stated.

The death of Hiplife artiste-Castro De Destroyer, is really bringing up different issues. Spiritualists, musicians, and all sorts of people are adding their voices to the talk of town. We are still waiting on Nana Kwaku Bonsam and the popular ‘goat beard’ fake prophet to speak…
Over 25million Ghanaians (both home and abroad) are paying close attention to what is going on in connection with the death of Castro and his friend, Janet Bandu.
In an era like this, the power of social media cannot be downplayed. The micro blogging sites allow people to freely express their opinions on issues of interest.
One ‘loud’ musician we currently have – Shatta Wale (2014 VGMA Artiste of the Year) – did not hold back his thoughts and opinion in relation to the tragic accident Castro and his friend encountered whilst jet skiing at Ada.
According to Shatta Wale, he will put the blame on the Ghana Music Industry. As he put it out in a facebook post, Shatta wrote the below statement (unedited)
“I DONT BLAME ANYBODY BUT WILL BLAME THIS INDUSTRY THAT MAKES ARTISTE FEEL LIKE POPPERS..THIS INDUSTRY KILLED TERRY BONCHAKA BECUASE HE WASNT PAID GOOD ENOUGH TO EVEN AFFORD A BETTER CAR,NOW CASTRO IS ALSO DEAD ALL BECAUSE HE TRUSTED HIS BROTHER(ASAMOAH GYAN) WHO WOULD HAVE MADE HIM A BETTER STAR IN THE NEAR FUTURE, BECAUSE OUR INDUSTRY WASNT MAKING HIM,HE WAS PUSHING HIMSELF TO THE TOP…MAY OUR GREAT GOD SET PEACE IN YOUR SOUL..WILL ALWAYS LOVE U..#CASTRO”
