There is something very peculiar about Ghanaians, I must say. We like to complain about our leaders, the rot and the corruption in high places. When the judges’ scandal came out everyone acted shocked, and rightly so.
Yet people are so willing to put Nana Aba’s wanton deception to the side and now jump on the ‘Bring back Nana Aba’ bandwagon. I could guess at what it says about Ghanaians but I think I’m tired of that.
Shatta Wale is one man who knows what it’s like to get into trouble with authorities for dumb reasons, probably why he can identify with Nana Aba in this situation.
The Dance hall king shared a post on facebook saying he is not happy with Nana Aba’s suspension at all. According to him, Nana Aba is one of the most hardworking people on TV3.

Every birth brings to every household good tidings and blessings. You and I brought joy on this plane and are blessings onto our folks and the universe as a whole. The instance i set eyes on MAJESTY, calm and peace went up my spine, his cries were distinct with words saying “make peace daddy” I have struggled with this message for a while and prayed over it. Anytime i held him in my arms those are the words that resounds in my soul.

Ghana’s self-acclaimed dancehall King-Shatta Wale has offered to sell all his 3 Ghana Music Awards plaques for 2 Ghana Cedis, far less than 1 dollar—and somehow, some Ghanaians regard this as disrespectful to the organisers of the annual Ghana Music award scheme as well as the industry in entirety.
The sale of an award plaque by an artiste by default has no contemptuous connotation—and all around the world, artistes sell/have sold awards they’ve won in various countries.
In fact, the sale of awards became so worrying and foretelling to big awarding bodies like the Academy Awards (Oscars) some years ago to the extent that, they now have some sort of ‘unfair’ contract with the award winners—stating that, whoever wants to sell his or her Oscar award must first offer it for sale to the Academy for the paltry sum of $1.
And this applies to all the post 1950 Oscar winners, making it illegal today to sell an Oscar plaque won after 1950 without first offering it to the Academy.
Perhaps, Shatta Wale’s antics throw a challenge to the organisers of the annual Ghana Music Awards to consider this, and tow the Academy lines—which will prevent the sale of their plaques, to cut off the seemingly taint such sales would bring.
In 2013, Screenwriter Charles MacArthur’s 1935 “Academy First Award”, won at the 8th Annual Academy Awards for Best Story for The Scoundrel, was sold for $106,231.
Even before that, Magician-David Copperfield bought Casablanca director-Michael Curtiz’s 1943 Oscar plaque for $232,000.00 in 2003 and later sold it in a Nate Sanders auction in 2012, for over $2 million.
So there is nothing inherently wrong with the sale of awards’ an artiste has received—unless there is a binding contract which prevents the person for putting the plaque up for sale or which stipulates that sales must be made a particular way.

Self-acclaimed Dancehall king, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, popularly known as Shatta Wale on Saturday, May 23, 2015 got music patrons at the Accra International Conference Center screaming when he removed his clothes on stage.
Whatever came over the musician to engage in such act, nobody knows. When performing his last song at the just ended Tigo Ghana meets Naija, Shatta Wale took off his shirt, shoes, and trouser, leaving him with only his boxer short and a singlet.
CEO of Empire Entertainment, Nathaniel Kwabena Adisi Anokye – A.K.A. Bola Ray – who could not stand what was going on tried to mount the stage to save the situation before it gets out of hand—Shatta left the stage at that moment.
He however got his fans to enthusiastically sing along with him whilst performing his last song – Talk Talk (Onye Soor) – which contains some explicit words.
The 5th edition of Ghana meets Naija came off on May 23, 2015. The annual event which is powered by Empire Entertainment attracted several Ghanaians and Nigerians, as well as other foreigners to the Accra International Conference Center where the event took place.
Undoubtedly, Tigo Ghana meets Naija is the biggest and most patronised musical event on the Ghanaian entertainment calendar.
Tickets were sold out and as such, every seat in the auditorium was occupied. Even though we streamed the program live on GhanaCelebrities.Com, we did capture some of the fun moments for you.
