Samini Begs Trade Fair Company Limited!

blank
MTN brand icon and African Dance hall artiste Samini has begged the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited to renovate and bring back the Children’s Park inside the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre.
Years ago, the Children’s Park at the Trade Fair served as a playing ground for children during events. Most parents preferred to leave their children at the venue as they get busy buying and selling. The Park had several children’s playing toys and objects such as merry-go-round, bouncing castles and the rest.
But several years down the line, all those have come to a halt. Most of these playing objects have been left to wreck.
Samini who penned down a recording and management deal worth Nine Hundred and Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis with Phamous Music last December recollecting memories of growing up said “A lot of things shaped my life as a young boy growing up and one of the most memorable was programs organised by the Trade Fair Company such as Grand Sales and International Trade Fairs”.
He said as a young man, those shows were stuck in his mind as he reminisced those years when himself and couple of his friends always were at the Trade Fair to either listen to music or play at the Children’s Park.

Since most Ghanaian musicians have identity crisis, changing of names is always anticipated or welcomed.
The process where an artiste changes his/her name is not new. However, it appears that this phenomenon has caught up with modern Ghanaian artistes.

“Samini Is Fine”, After Car Accident + Pictures Of Him At The Ghana Music & Food Festival!

Ghanaian Dancehall superstar Emmanuel Samini was on Sunday morning treated and discharged from hospital after a seemingly serious car accident he encountered on his way from a musical concert performance.

Samini was returning from the Ghana Trade Fair Centre where he had purportedly stolen the show at the fairly successful Ghana Music and Food Festival organized by Konsule Entertainment over the weekend.

“At about 5am”, Samini said, “I lost control of the steering wheel after an animal- a dog, I believe- crossed the road from nowhere resulting in my car veering off the road and crashing a gutter”. The incident occurred near Exhibition Junction at Dansoman in Accra, on his way back home from the said performance.blank

Prelim medical assessment and report revealed that Samini sustained minor injuries when his head smashed the windscreen. “His seat belt worn at the time obviously reduced the impact and prevented him from being thrown out of the car”, a Samini Music rep confirmed to Hi Newspaper on Sunday afternoon.

Daddy Lumba [DL] For ‘Legends & Legacy Ball’ 2011!

blank
Celebrating Daddy Lumba

In the western world, legends are honoured, appreciated and celebrated all the time. They are awarded in their various fields of endeavour when they are alive and active. Even when they finally give up the ghost, they still get acknowledgements and recognition.

Celebrating legends posthumously has become the order of the day in our part of the world. Legends die many years before they are celebrated or anything done in their names.

Imajin Advertising, an event promotion and management outfit based inAccrabelieves it is prudent if legends are honoured and appreciated while they are alive and can relish in the accolades, praise and other benefits that come from being recognized as a legend.

The company feels it is wrong to wait till a legend dies before praises and accolades are showered on them, when the same can be done whiles they are alive. Owing to the above, an event ‘Legends & Legacy Ball’, to honour living legends has been instituted.

The ‘Legends & Legacy Ball’ is an annual event to honour music legends. As time goes on, the company hopes to extend the event to Kumasi to cater for the Northern sector of the country.

The maiden edition of the ‘LAL Ball’ focuses on legendary high life musician born and christened Charles Kojo Fosu but known by many as Daddy Lumba and recently responds to ‘DL’.

A Night Of ‘Weed’, Rains As Samini & Mavado ‘Lighted’ Accra Sports Stadium!

blank

Misfortunes sometimes are blessings in disguise. Samini and Mavado show which took place last Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium was a typical example. The misfortune of postponing the show from October 1 turned out to be a blessing in disguise on October 8.

The show, which many people thought will flop, turned out to be one of the highly successful shows held at the Sports Stadium. The show was postponed due to the hurriedly arranged friendly match between two of the most successful, decorated and glorious teams in the country, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

Many, particularly people who had bought their advance tickets became worried. The organisers also panicked since they didn’t know of the repercussion of such an untimely decision, especially when they were not thoroughly informed of the decision earlier as expected.

Even at the press conference to formally announce the postponement of the show, the organisers were petrified because the new date means, they would have to clash with the annual Joy FM Old Skuul Reunion which happens on the same day at the Trade Fair Centre.

The fact that, the Old Skuul Reunion was free, I reckoned on the faces of some of the organisers that, they felt they were in some trouble.

“What then happens to their investment, if the people all decide to make their way to the Trade Fair Centre for the Old Skuul Reunion?” I asked one of the organisers. “Ebenezer, we will use the Old Skuul Reunion to get people to attend this program. All we have to do is to push the message hard”, was a replied that accompanied my worried question.

If I was to choose between the Old Skuul and the Samini/Movado gig, I would have opted for the latter since the former has lost it appeal from my perspective. But honestly, I was nervous for the organisers because the Old Skuul Reunion was free whiles the Samini/Mavado gig attracted 20 and 40 GHC.

But I knew MTN has been the heart of Ghana music for many years until recently when they had to hand over the sponsorship of the country’s music awards to Vodafone. I know they are still committed at projecting Ghana music. Fantasy Entertainment has done it before. They brought the American Hip Hop artiste Rick Ross to the country. Samini Music is a label headed by a very serious musician.

Mavado & Samini Live In Ghana Concert Moved To October 8! Samini Apologises To Ghanaians For The Postponement!

blank

African dance hall artiste Samini has apologised to Ghanaians for the postponement of the ‘MAVADO LIVE in 2011 Fantasy Jam Hosted By Samini’ concert organised by MTN, Fantasy Entertainment and Samini Music.

The event billed for today [October 1, 2011] was called off on Thursday evening, three days to the event. It was called-off due to a hurriedly arranged friendly match between two of the most glamorous clubs in the country, the Porcupine Warriors, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the Glorious Club, Accra Hearts of Oak.

Disappointed Samini addressing the media recollected how the sad news of the postponement got to him.

“This news got to me on Thursday [September 29] after I had finished rehearsals with my band and was just relaxing at home. So my manager had to break the news to me after dealing with his crew for the day. It was difficult for him to psyche me up on the fact that my show was not going to happen”.

Samini clad in the concert T-Shirt concurred with the National Sports Council for the postponement of the show. He conceded that, there was no way a music concert can or should rebel a sports activity at a Sports Stadium.

Did Samini Really Marry Again: Update On Samini’s Recent Reported New Marriage…

Samini
Samini

Based on a publication by Peacefm earlier this week which wrongly stated that Ghana’s dancehall King ‘Samini’ has married a 3rd wife, I wrote a post to express my shock and disgust.

After talking to few contacts in Ghana, it is obvious that Peacefm and Xfm who were the first media outlets to have reported on Samini’s recent marriage got the wrong gist.

From what I was told, Samini did not add another chick to his collection this time. He rather legally sealed the relationship (customary marriage) he had with his first Canadian based wife ‘Christiana Aboagye Mensah’, the mother of his 8 year old daughter- Toyila Samini.
