Violence has reared its ugly head in Ghanaian politics once again as the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election has been rocked by a withdrawal of the NDC.

The opposition party has announced their withdrawal on the back of violent attacks suffered by some of their polling agents and an alleged armed assault on the house of their parliamentary candidate in the constituency.

Ningo Prampram MP, Hon. Sam George has sent a direct message to Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) daring her to arrest controversial musician Kwame Asare Darko, popularly known as A-Plus, over claims that her voice was doctored in a tape last year.

The Member of Parliament elect for Ningo Prampram in the Greater Accra region, Sam Dzata George, seemingly broke from the NDC’s official line and declared Nana Akuffo-Addo the President-elect in a post on social media, although he later took down the post and revealed he had been hacked.
The NPP leader has taken a lead in the collated results so far, and several media houses have even projected him as the winner of the election – but the NDC continue to maintain all the results are not in and they could win the election, so they are unwilling to acknowledge Nana Addo’s lead.

Sam George, NDC Parliamentary candidate for Ningo-Prampram, who’s currently suspended from the party, is set to be embroiled in another legal battle, after the Multimedia Group filed a defamation suit against him.
Same George had alleged that the Multimedia Group had taken loans from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and GBC; and had failed to pay back either loan.
