Rwandans went to the polls on Friday to vote in a referendum seeking to change the country’s constitution to allow President Paul Kagame to go for further terms in office.

Paul Kagame has ruled Rwanda since the year 2000, having last won elections in 2010. Hugely popular in the country for leading reforms and rebuilding the country after the Rwandan genocide, the referendum was organised to lift a constitutional ban on any president serving past two terms.
