A member of the new breed of artists has taken aim at the old generation, claiming their greed is what has destroyed the industry for the young ones.
Sweenity, who was formerly of Criss Waddle’s AMG Business, says stars like Tinny, Kontihene, Praye, Joe Frazier and others did not sign younger talent to nurture them but instead are still keen on taking over the spotlight.
The erstwhile Praye Honeho, Choirmaster, has come out to clear the air following Praye’s recent endorsement of the NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo. Choirmaster told Showbiz that he feels the need to distance himself from the recent endorsement given by his former band mates, although no one with two brain cells would ever make that mistake.
Erstwhile member of Praye, Choirmaster, has revealed that the group recorded a song for Nana Akuffo-Addo in 2012, but that it was never released because they did not receive payment. Choirmaster said he recorded the song with Cartel Big J (formerly Praye Tiatia) for the NPP, to be used as a campaign tool for the party.
Singer Choirmaster, former member of the hiplife singing group Praye, says he believes his former brothers endorsed the candidature of Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo because they wanted to make some dough. Eugene Baah, then known as Praye Honeho but now simply ‘Choirmaster’, said on Gh One Thursday that election season such as this one is the right time for ‘celebrities to make some dough’.
Legendary hiplife group Praye have endorsed the candidature of the NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo. The duo, Cartel Big J (formerly Praye Tiatia) and Kente (Praye Tintin), paid a working visit on the 72 year old candidate and formally threw their support behind his plan to become the leader of the nation after the December 2016 polls.
Praye, currently made up of Cartel Big J and Praye Tintin have released a new song—hoping to score that much needed come back. This is their second single since deciding to come together, still under the umbrella of Praye—following their many troubles. The single is Christina, produced by Keylex and it still has the traditional Praye style written over it—seems it’s inspired by the fire their song-Angelina caught some years ago. Listen to the song below…
Praye’s re-reunion is not going as smoothly as everyone might expect, as Choirmaster maintains joining the New Praye Group is not possible at the moment.
So for now the two opposites, Tintin and Tietia, have to hold the fort as best as they can. But they would probably not be as good as they were as a trio.
Wow Beverly Afaglo has no chills lol. The actress and wife of Choirmaster, a former member of the defunct Praye group, has taken to her Instagram page to slam one Serwaa, an entertainment pundit for dissing her husband. According to Beverly, the pundit called her husband’s music ‘trash’ and added that if he doesn’t … Read more
Praye’s break-up way back when is one that their fans found quite difficult to digest. Recently, the hiplife group Keche claimed it really affected them, emphasising how fans weren’t the only ones devastated.
For those looking for that little bit of catharsis, Choirmaster says something might be brewing in the Praye pot sometime in the future.
Music groups coming to a break-up seems almost inevitable in the music world. Sometimes the break-up works, sometimes it does not; and sometimes they come back together.
However it ends up, fans always find it difficult to deal with such break-ups.
Praye Honeho, a former member of the now defunct hiplife group, ‘Praye’ has revealed he was not invited to the wedding ceremony of his former colleague Praye Tiatia, which was held over the weekend. Speaking to MzGee on Hot FM’s Entertainment Show, Praye Honeho, whose real name is Eugene Baah, said: “I was away in … Read more

The Ghana music industry has really come a long way. Each week, we are being greeted by hit tracks from our well known musicians. Music, like writing, isn’t easy as others might think. For an artiste to come out with great tunes, it requires passion, creativity, etc on the part of him or her.
We’ve come across several musicians globally who compose good songs, but fade out from the system as time passes. Ghana, as a country is not an exception. There have been some musicians who were doing awesome in the game, but now ‘struggling’ to make hits. Let’s take a look at some of them.
Asem
The man who studied journalism, turned rapper is one of the brilliant musicians and songwriters the country has produced. Coming into the limelight with ‘Give Me Blow’, Asem was very consistent in the delivery of hit songs. With his background in communication, he has control over words and very good at throwing punch lines.
However, after releasing ‘Bye Bye’ which he featured Kwabena Kwabena, Asem has been struggling to come out with great tunes. With fans not patronising his songs as they used to, he even went ahead to put his latest album (Tough Times Don’t Last) on internet for free download.
Tic Tac
“Philomena Kpiting3, g33g3.” Any individual who has followed Hiplife from the 90s will be familiar with this phrase in Tic Tac’s ‘Philomena’ track. As one of the pioneers of Hiplife, he has contributed immensely to the success of the genre.
Tic Tac has many great songs to his credit. I remember how one of his songs (Kwani Kwani) brought myself and a girl together when I was a small boy. Tic Tac has tried to remain relevant in the game in terms of songs, but unfortunate for him, his new releases are really ‘hustling’ to make it to the top.
From alleged thievery to struggling to make earns meet as musicians, a close source to the Hiplife group-Praye disclosed in a loud voice during a recent meeting in London how desperate, broke and frustrated the musical group has become. Present at the meeting were Peace Fm’s Akwasi Aboagye, myself and few others who could not … Read more
