As if we needed any more confirmation of the incredible corruption plaguing the Ghana Police Service!
A video floating online right now perfectly captures the problem with our so-called protectors in the service; showing not only how brazenly they engage in corruption but also the fact that they couldn’t care less about their jobs.
In a viral video sighted by GhanaCelebrities.com on social media, a police officer identified as Sergeant Mahanadi of the SWAT Unit of Ghana Police Service was seen been brutally assaulted by angry residents of Amasaman, a suburb in Accra.
What led to this brutal assault on the police officer is still not known but from the video, he seems to have done something to piss off the residents.
Whatever ignited the fight between this Ghanaian police officer, a driver and his mate has not been established yet but the video which is trending on social media is just pathetic.
A police officer for whatever reason got involved in a fight with a driver and his mate and the only thing that saved him was his helmet ─in fact, he was actually beaten by these two for possible reasons that he may have infuriated them or demanded some ridiculous amount of money from the driver for doing the wrong thing instead of following the laid down procedures to arrest him.
When you think of Ghanaian police officers, you’re generally not thinking of gorgeous divas who can make you lose your tongue if they ever happen to stop your car. You’re mostly thinking of short, pot-bellied men whose only reason for existence is to extort money from road users.
So it’s no coincidence that the photos of a gorgeous female officer has ground social media to a standstill.
Does anything symbolize the state of Ghana much more than this? Someone supposed to be protecting us bumbling around intoxicated whilst putting our lives in danger instead.
That sounds like a perfect metaphor for most politicians in Ghana.
