As if there weren’t enough obstacles to carrying out this so-called ‘national service’ – some unlucky service personnel would even find themselves ‘bounced’ from the institutions they have been posted to by the Scheme.
Registration itself is a wahala, which includes standing in long queues and now even getting assaulted – but even completing all those stages does not a guarantee you a service post with some companies.

The management of the National Service Scheme has rendered an apology to personnel who were brutalised Monday by military officers as they tried to register for the scheme.
In a statement, the scheme described the incident as ‘regrettable’ and extended its apologies to the brutalised personnel as well as to the general public.

Government Approves Increasing NSS ‘Alawa’ To Ghc 559

The government has approved the increment of the National Service allowances from Ghc 350 to Ghc 559.

The former NDC government made the decision for the increment just before leaving office, leading to it being described as a political decision aimed at tying the hands of the incoming government.

‘Last Minute’ NSS Hires Dismissed

About 205 people who were hired by the National Service Secretariat after the elections have seen their appointments terminated.

Newly appointed NSS head Mustapha Usif took the decision to fire those appointees because he said their appointments did not go through the proper channels.
