Interestingly, why the big ‘shot’ artistes with money, exposure and connections are taking hits at BET Awards in order to end the annual disrespect they show to African artistes, the overwhelmed, low earning-artistes like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Yemi Alade and the others have refused to say a word—actually, Stonebwoy even thinks it’s a blessing to receive BET Awards backstage or be pre-recorded.
UK Based Ghanaian artiste-Fuse ODG who actually turned down an opportunity to work with Bob Geldof and Band Aid 30 because he considered the lyrics demeaning to Africa—took to twitter last night to tell BET Awards’ organisers the truth about their continuous disrespect to the artistes who annually fall within their International Act (UK/Africa) category.
This was because of the yearly BET practice; awarding these acts backstage or at a near empty auditorium way before the actual show.
