I have always maintained that even though I do not have a vote, as a left-wing democrat, my political ideologies resonate well with the New Patriotic Party and therefore if I were to vote in the 2016 presidential elections, I would have voted for Nana Akufo Addo.
Beyond my accentuated political ideological position, for the simple fact that the President Mahama-led NDC administration incessantly without apology and any sense of urgency took Ghanaians for granted—somewhat thinking Ghanaians are inherently stupid was enough for me or any reasonable person to vote against them.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has become a snail institution in the last 24 hours in declaring the results, making it impossible to decipher the official positions of the two main contenders of the election-Nana Akufo Addo and John Dramani Mahama. But multiple credible independent sources have been filling in the gap with figures that reasonably project an overwhelming win for Nana Addo and the NPP.

Ghanaians, even if temporary sane have shocked President Mahama and the NDC whose abuse of incumbency at some point sent shivers down the bones of many supporters of the NPP.
With countless ‘JM Toaso’ billboards across the country and the non-stop play of NDC’s political adverts on TV and radio, even the staunchest NPP supporter would concede that at a point during the campaign wondered if the elephant was indeed going to be able to push the dead goat into his own dug grave.
