Life in Ghana for some people ‘dey be’ like ‘Aluguntingu’, just add the ‘Medaase’ for me.
You come across certain information and you are compelled to ask yourself this; what sort of leaders and custodians do we have in Ghana?
According to reports, the Commissioner for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ)- Lauretta Vivian Lamptey is being accused and investigated of spending over $180,000 on rent—note her title.
I would have no problem if a Minister of State did this, because that is what they are known for, but there is no excuse for a person put in charge of Human Rights in Ghana to allegedly exhibit such a selfish conduct to the detriment of the State.
Reports by Citi News have it that, a document obtained shows that since Lauretta Vivian Lamptey assumed office 3 years ago; she is yet “to move into her official residence which is still under renovation with several variations at cost of GHC 182,000”.
Meanwhile, she is said to have rented an apartment at the AU Village at the cost of $4,500 per month. She was however ejected from her rented apartment following the expiration of her 2013 tenancy.
This is where it gets worse, Lauretta Vivian Lamptey then moved into one of the best hotels in Accra where she pays $456.25 daily. Yeah, you read it right—$456.25 each day paid with our money…
