Although far away from home, he’s raising the flag of Ghana high in the United States of America through music. His name is Papa Staunch (real name George Oteng – Mensah) – a Ghanaian born rapper, singer and an exceptional song writer who truly understands the art of music.
He began singing at a very tender age at Oseikrom, a suburb in Kumasi where he was widely known for his distinctive voice.
Papa Staunch rose quickly in ranks in the music industry due to how dynamic and unique he was. As the saying goes; “A child who washes his hands clean enough gets to dine conveniently with the elders” and so is the case of Papa Staunch, who is currently working with top musicians like Tinny because of his immense talent.
After a few gigs, he migrated to the USA. Since then, he has been performing on quite a number of stages including African events that take place in the States.
As a rapper, Staunch takes inspiration from experienced rappers like French Montana, Rick Ross, Obrafour, Sarkodie, and Tinny.
Just like any other upcoming rap artiste, Papa Staunched is not immune to challenges. It is the wish of any musician to penetrate through his target market but what remains the biggest challenge for Papa Staunch is promoting his songs in Ghana since he resides in the States.
