It takes a lot of energy to stay stupid; less so compared to employing your senses to take charge of your own life.
Perhaps it’s the workings of poverty—but being poor does not necessarily mean you must swim in a pool of such gross absurdity.
Maybe we should blame it on education, because the bold words ‘highly inflammable’ which could be seen from the above photo was not enough to send the people of Oforikrom fleeing—when a fuel tanker fell on it side, with fuel spilling all over the road this morning.
Every reasonable person at such a scene would flee as quickly as possible, but for several ‘smart’ people in Kumasi, a fuel tanker which could explode into flames any moment from the time it fell was the perfect opportunity to steal some spilled fuel.
It must take a great level of self callousness and disregard for ones own life to boldly squat by the road side and collect leaking fuel—instead of running off as far as possible.
Beyond the obvious display of inanity this picture depicts, it also highlights the criminal nature of these Ghanaians: stealing in broad day light with several people standing by is not much of a big deal to some people.
