Actor John Dumelo has denied ever endorsing the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama in the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
In the round up to the 2012 elections, John Dumelo joined a couple of other movie stars to ‘endorse’ the NDC’s John Mahama (JM) in a peace message which was aired on all the television and radio stations in the country.
John Dumelo headed a promo asking Ghanaians to vote for the NDC’s Candidate to consolidate the existing peace that Ghanaians are enjoying.
This gave the indications that, the actor has publicly endorsed the NDC even though he did not say so in the short message.
But speaking on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review show few minutes ago, the award winning actor said he did not “directly endorsed” the NDC but rather it was a peace message he recorded for Ghanaians which was funded by the party.
“I did not directly endorse NDC” he said. He continued “I did a peace commercial or message for Ghanaians which was funded by the NDC party.”
According to John, he did not record any peace message for the other parties because “they didn’t approach me.” However he recorded messages for other companies who approached him.
Answering questions relating to a story published in the Graphic Showbiz that, movie enthusiasts in Kumasi in Ashanti Region, a strong hold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have promised not to patronize any movie he and another actor Clement Bonney popularly known as Mr Beautiful who also publicly endorsed the NDC are featured in, the Ghana Movie Awards winner said he was sad about it.
