Ice TV are not taking the NMC decision to ban the airing of p*rn on their channel lightly, threatening to head to court to seek clarification of the NMC rule.
The media regulatory agency issued a directive to three tv stations – TV XYZ and Thunder TV being the other two – to cease airing p*rn or risk losing their licences.
The three tv stations which air p*rn have been ordered by the National Media Commission to cease immediately.
In a statement issued by the Commission, the regulatory agency says the airing of s*xual intercourse is banned within its regulations for broadcasting content in Ghana.
Maurice Ampaw has described all p*rn watchers as ‘mentally deranged’ and non ‘right thinking’ Ghanaians whose rights cannot override that of ‘right thinking’ Ghanaians who want p*rn off the air.
The discussion over the airing of p*rn by several free to air channels continues to dominate debate in Ghana, as the authorities seem powerless to stop it and the stations involved show no inclination to stop airing it.
