Globally, the tradition notion of bleaching has changed—and in Ghana, you would hardly catch anyone using the old stinking Tura soap to poorly bleach his or her skin.
That is too dangerous some say—and perhaps, too obvious.
Now, several Ghanaians including our celebrities have disguisedly bleached their skins and have decorated their practice with fancy names such as skin toning, skin lightening, skin whitening or sometimes, skin flourishing.
Of course it is difficult to find any real difference between these words, except that, they are used to subdue the shame and societal backlash against the old way of bleaching which has become unpopular over time.
In that sense, no one really bleaches; but different methods including even taking specific dangerous pills are employed to achieve the same or finer results of skin alteration.
Still, the need to stay or become light hovers around strongly. It’s so bad that a group of celebrities led by Ama K. Abebrese had to launch an anti-bleaching campaign about 2 years ago.
Over the years, several ‘Ghanaian Celebrities’ have been accused of this or that form of skin bleaching and apart from perhaps a low level socialite-Nasara of Ghana Most Beautiful fame, all these celebrities have denied ever bleaching.
In the past, we’ve had certain movie stars complaining about how film-makers have special preference for light skinned actors, sort of encouraging skin lightening.
Today, we bring you a list of Ghanaian Celebrities rumoured to have bleached; tell us what you think—those you know or agree have done it and those you doubt are bleaching practitioners.
Apparently, the mixed race celebrities do it more…

Ghanaian Celebrities Turned Paparazzi…Who Leads the Race?
We can look at this increasing phenomenon with two lenses, that is; it may feel bad as a celebrity or what others call a ‘local champion’ in your own right and then when you struggle to step out of your country—no one recognises your status. If this is the order and you have one of the bloated egos of some of our Ghanaian Celebrities—you would become desperate to pull in certain tricks, just to feel relevant.
The other way of looking at this is that, all these people are really not celebrities—and increasingly, they’ve bought into the unwarranted hype we give them to make money from their butts, so when the reality sets in while away, they fail to accept the truth since their judgements are clouded by the delusion. This sets them off to do what they believe should be done for them. This is a matter of a person believing in his or her own lies—pretty dangerous.
Being a celebrity sucks but from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, celebrities take pride in their status and love the accompanying attention—either good or bad.
When it comes to places with well established celebrity/pop-culture, we have a whole industry of aggressive photographers who follow (literally stalk) celebrities all around, taking photos of whatever they do and selling these photos to the media—ranging from the blogs to the numerous TV stations.
Even in these established celebrity/pop culture societies, the celebrities play some basic tricks to grab more attention or stay in the media. Celebrity blogger-Perez Hilton said in an interview some few years back, that the celebrities tip off the paparazzi where they are eating or hanging out, so that these photographers will rush to find them.
Ghanaian Celebrities: Do They Really Understand What this is All About?
I wouldn’t waste your time explaining to you who a celebrity is, because in our part of the world, anyone who appears on TV is placed into the shinning star box of celebrities. Even at the international front, being a celebrity today does not have any sort of real correlation with ‘to celebrate’.
But one thing both the deserving and worthy celebrity title holders in the West have in common is; they understand what being a celebrity is about—at least most of them do. It is about fame, it is about trading a huge percent of your privacy for silly things like red carpet appearances and turning yourself into a news punching bag so that the blogs, the tabloids and the newspapers can attack you from all angles. The Court even accepts this—to some greater extent.
The reality of life is that, you do not gain anything without having to give away something and the Western celebrities perfectly understand and embrace this.
The whole celebrity lifestyle and pop culture is alien to us but we love the West more than ourselves, so we’ve all bought into it, and since we even copy things of less substance from the West, this seems far better in value to be copied.
However, our celebrities and those who desperately want to wear the celebrity crown do not understand the relationship between a celebrity, the fans and the media. They want to become celebrities—in fact they believe they are but have no clue what the lifestyle entails.
I wouldn’t want to say they are ignorant because that does not capture it all, some are plainly stupid without any understanding of what part of their lifestyles people are keenly interested in…
No one really cares about Jackie Appiah’s Charity works, though we may pay occasional attention to that. Unfortunately, we are more interested in who she is ‘chopping down’ at night than which church she attends on Sundays.
In the world of celebrities, the only valuable news to the media and even the fans centre on what these celebrities do not want the public to know. There has always been an increasing tension of hide and seek between celebrities and the media and it will forever remain this way.
Can you imagine how far the kick-boxing between Solanage and Jay-Z travelled? My mother who does not even know who the heck Solange is had the ‘beat down’ footage on her phone. I am sure Solange does a lot of charity work and good things in this world but the media and even the real fans do not really care. Nothing Solange has done under the sun has gotten such attention before…
Some Female Ghanaian Celebrities Have NOTHING Doing With Their Lives & Wake Up Each Morning to Dress Up So to Take Photos for Instagram Uploads-INSIDER
It is no news that some of our female celebrities (in fact majority of them) have no real jobs or careers and are heavily living in delusion that reasonable persons cannot entertain.
Over the years, we’ve seen how many photos some of these celebrities upload on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms as part of their delusion and attempt to throw dust in the eyes of fans.
Ghanaian TV personality/Actress-Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku (who is a celebrity in our loose way of using the word like for the others) has come out to say; she knows of several Ghanaian celebrities who wake up each day, dress up when they have no where going—just to pose and take photos for instagram.
No wonder we see our so called celebrities posing randomly everywhere, near swimming pools when it is obvious they are not there to swim and even in public toilets.
We’ve said it several times and if you did not believe us, an INSIDER has confirmed this—and we certainly know those leading the camp of delusion.
BUSTED: Some of the Over the TOP Lies Our Ghanaian Celebrities Have Told…
All around the world, celebrities lie for several reasons—mostly to hide embarrassing situations or add some sort of undeserving value to their personality.
Throwing in lies here and there is part of the pop culture but it becomes a big deal when the media exposes the person selling the lies, fetching such a celebrity a huge humiliation.
Things have gone bad for some celebrities to the extent that, they had to openly admit their lies and render apology to their fans and all those with interest.
Over the years, some of our Ghanaian Celebrities have found themselves in untangling web of lies, with no room to escape or defend their actions.
Let’s look at some of the obvious lies as well as the hidden ones which were exposed…
- Nadia Buari’s Oscar De la Renta dress
In March 2011, Ghanaian actress-Nadia Buari appeared at the 2011 Pan-African Film Festival which was held in Los Angeles, California and wore a stunning gown which she claimed to be an Oscar de la Renta. But it turned out to be a “big fat lie”.
GhanaCelebrities.Com at the time phoned Oscar de la Renta who said, they had not designed any dress like what Nadia wore. It emerged that, Nadia Buari’s dress was from designer called “Alyce Black Label” in New York with the price being $328.00.
Things got nasty and embarrassing to the extent that Nadia Buari’s US based PR firm dropped her, for lying to them based on which they issued a press release that Nadia had worn the expensive Oscar de la Renta dress to the film festival—when in fact that was not the case.
- Yvonne Nelson 2250 Euros Dress for a Movie Premiere
Just like Nadia Buari who was looking to score some high status for claiming she was wearing a top designer dress when she was not, Yvonne Nelson attended a movie premiere (Princess Bride) in 2010 in Accra and she told journalists that what she was wearing cost £2250…

This must have killed any hope Confidence Haugen had in the two of them coming back together. If you missed this, CLICK HERE.

Nikki Samonas & Ekow Smith Asante

How Popular Are Our Ghanaian Celebrities? Let’s End The Delusion!
Celebrities all over the world have taken a pill of delusion—making them feel they are above certain things, untouchable or possess some sort of inherent superiority.
Most, it is the delusion which fetches them all the troubles they constantly find themselves in with the law, drugs and society…
Narrowing it down to Ghana, it is apparent that most of our Ghanaian Celebrities have taking the obstinate pill of delusion—making them think they are far popular than they are in reality.
And I do not blame them for their delusion; I think it mostly stems from the way and manner we easily give the celebrity cloth to people to wear in Ghana.
In Ghana, everyone on TV is equally a celebrity and the moment the person is tagged as such, he/she thinks the next Lady Gaga or Michael Jackson has arrived—measuring his/her fame beyond the rode.
Recently, I got into a discussion with a certain Ghanaian Celebrity (we call of them so) about why Nigerian TV personality Denrele did not know actress-Lydia Forson when he hosted the Channel O’ News Live in Accra.
According to this female Ghanaian Celebrity, what Denrele did was a total disrespect and Nigerians always do that to bring Ghana down.
I tried to get her to consider this; what if Denrele did not actually know who Lydia Forson is? And as a matter of fact, I will not be shocked if he does not know her and several of our so called celebrities—-because the noise and hype is only in Accra.
Unbelievably, this Ghanaian Celebrity could not make sense of my point, disregarding my assertion that most of these Ghanaian Celebrities are not that popular—beyond the soil of Accra.
I am the Editor of GhanaCelebrities.Com, the biggest and leading Ghanaian Entertainment/Celebrity online media property and yet, I do not know/have not heard of some of the people tagged Ghanaian celebrities—that is a fact…
Frequently, I find myself asking; what does this one too do? And the answer is always the same, he is a TV presenter or he was featured in some non-selling movie. Yet, the person has a celebrity status in Ghana!
I hangout with several Ghanaian Celebrities outside Ghana and to be frank, we all zoom through the crowd without anyone mostly noticing them.
Even if Oprah Winfrey was not known by some folks in Switzerland, what makes our Ghanaian Celebrities think they are so popular beyond measure—and that everyone should know them?
This piece is not to undermine the achievements or status of our Ghanaian Celebrities; I am seeking to establish how popular they really are—from your end…
I have several friends who are Ghanaians and do not know Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Okoro and John Dumelo—-simply because they do not probably watch Ghanaian movies. And if you leave outside Ghana that is the only way you will come across these people.
Equally, if you do not live in Ghana and do not watch any Ghanaian television, you will not know any of the many TV presenters tagged celebrities in Ghana.

Why Some Ghanaian Celebrities Are Hiding Their Precious Children From The Media
Few weeks ago, I read an article online about the sad story of Tia Mowry (The Game Fame) who posted a memo that no mother should ever have to.
Apparently, she posted a picture of her baby son, Cree on one of the social media websites and some crazy people decided to do some damage to her son. They insulted the innocent kid here and there. Who does that?
In her memo Mrs. “Mowry” told her “ friends” , followers and fans to leave her son alone.
The truth is, celebrities willingly step into the limelight, exposing themselves to all sort of criticism. But their kids don’t ask for these criticisms. That means all the vicious talk about celebrity offsprings like Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s baby Blue, who was the subject of vile commentary when her 6-month-old face was recently revealed, is a no go area.
I’ve read and heard horrible and completely inappropriate comments( and I am certainly sure Ghanaian celebrities have too) about so many of these celebrity children, judging their facial features, weight and/or hair texture.
And there’s no way around it: It’s just wrong, wrong, wrong. The same rule applies even for the kids whose parents have allowed them to step forward, like Willow Smith. Willow’s varying hair colors, length and textures, her not-so-real tongue ring, and her unique (but age appropriate) attire has inspired all manner of harsh criticisms-some people have gone so far to question her sexual orientation.
