Obviously, comedy in Ghana is ‘dead’ judging from some comments made by comedy lovers in recent times. Is it that the current crop of comedians in Ghana are boring or lazy in making people laugh?
Well, Fritz Baffour, a former Information Minister has stated without mincing words that his kind of comedy has faded out completely and that he is not interested in the kind of comedy Ghanaian comedians put out there.

NDC MP-Fritz Baffour Slams President Mahama & Gov't Over Gitmo Detainees Saga
Though President Mahama has explained why his government accepted to resettle the two Gitmo detainees in Ghana despite the two having once been linked to Al-Qaeda and the United States having in the past considered them as a national security threat.
His reasons have not really been accepted by all; and his invoking of the religious virtue of compassion did not even buy the hearts of Ghanaians, largely considered as religious.
Today, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Ablekuma South-Fritz Baffour has added his voice to the conversation, saying, no matter the good intended by President Mahama and his government, they failed to handle the Gitmo saga well.
I’m Not too Enthused About Ghanaian Comedy – Hon Fritz Baffour
If an authority like Hon. Fritz Baffour comes public to say that he is not too enthused about Ghanaian comedy, then, it means our Ghanaian comedians of today need to pep up their game.
On Wednesday 5th Feb, 2013, Hon. Fritz Baffour was asked on Channel R if he is a comedian but he said no. Asked if he enjoys the current crop of comedians in Ghana and the honourable said that he does not.
“I’m not too enthused about Ghanaian comedy. When we started comedy in the past with people like KSM and Tommy Annan Forson, we gave out deep comedy. Now the industry is bad! Investment in comedy is poor, so basically, I’m not enthused about comedy in Ghana now.”
