France’s highest administrative court has today ruled that, the on-going strict enforcement of “burkini bans” on the country’s beaches are seriously illegal and a violation of fundamental human rights.
The State Council (Conseil d’Etat) made the ruling while examining laws which were brought in by commune of Villeneune-Loubet.
The court stated that, it has not found any evidence which favours prohibition–that there’s no evidence a risk to public order exists because of “the outfits worn by some people to go swimming”.
