Shatta Wale, who’s arguably the biggest artiste in the country, has been missing from the biggest music awards night in the country for the past few years due to his feud with organisers Charterhouse.
Shatta Wale has always maintained that his absence from the awards has no effect on him, but entertainment pundit Prince Tsegah begs to differ.

Gospel singer Ohemaa Mercy has rescinded her decision to return the VGMA awards plaques she has won due to allegations of bribery levelled against gospel artists by CharterHouse’s PRO George Quaye.
Speaking to Mike 2 on Adom Fm, the singer’s manager and husband, Isaac Twum-Ampofo, said the singer was no more returning the plaques because CharterHouse had taken steps that has dissociated themselves from Quaye’s irresponsible comments.
Spokesperson for the VGMA Awards board, Mark Okraku Mantey, has called on gospel artists intent on returning their awards to do so as Charterhouse would calmly take them back.
According to Okraku Mantey, whilst they don’t really want anyone to return their awards, they have to take them if that situation occurs.
CharterHouse, organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, has stripped communications director George Quaye of all duties in relations to being a spokesperson for the VGMA board.
At a press conference held in the capital Friday, Quaye was relieved of his duties as a spokesperson for the VGMA board, which chooses nominees and winners of the awards.

Gospel artiste Anita Afriyie has waded into the bribery claims surrounding the genre, claiming that Charterhouse were actually soliciting for bribes from her.
Charterhouse communications head George Quaye stirred controversy a while ago when he claimed that gospel artists actually paid bribes to be given awards much more than those of other genres.
Screwface got the country talking last week when he claimed in a post on Facebook that he lost the discovery of the year award at the 2007 Ghana Music Awards because he refused to pay a bribe organisers demanded of him. According to him, the award was given to King Ayisoba because he refused to pay any money as was asked of him.
The Managing Director of Midland Savings and Loans, Mr. Michael Adjovu has presented a brand new Hyundai Elantra to Joey B (of Tonga fame) as part of Joey B’s prize package for winning New Artist of the Year at the VGMAs, which came off on May 3rd, 2014 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Joey B was accompanied by members of his Black Avenue Music management and his family- grandmother, mother and sister.

Majority of the winners of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) 2012 did not turn up for the prize presentations on Tuesday at MUSIGA Office in Accra. The organisers of the annual awards, Charter House were ready to present each winner with his or her prize, yet only few of the winners were present. This development forced the organisers to give an ample time to wait for the rest to show up for the presentation to look beautiful. After several hours, the short event kick started with the artistes who were available. The absence of a number artistes did not ruin the presentation but it did take some shine out of the whole event. The VGMAs in its 13th edition was held on Saturday April 13 at the Dome of the Accra International Conference. Prior to that, the Industry award was held to award the Industry Categories. Each award winner irrespective of the number of awards won received GHC 3.000 whiles the ‘Artiste of the Year’ picked GHC 10.000.
