Members of UK’s parliament have been forced by a petition on their website which received over 210,000 signatures to debate whether to legalise Cannabis in the UK for medicinal use or not—those in support want cannabis to be sold in shops and be taxed to fund the NHS.

This is obviously going to be an interesting debate but considering the posture of the Tories, this wouldn’t go any far. The Tories have already issued a statement on the pending debate, saying, ‘substantial scientific evidence shows cannabis is a harmful drug that can damage human health’.

Meanwhile, Labour MP-Paul Flynn, who has campaigned for more than a decade for the medicinal use of Cannabis will lead the debate.

The debate will take place in Westminster Hall, the second-biggest Commons venue after the chamber itself, on October 12—and all MPs will be able to take part.
