Tragedy doubly struck during the funeral of comedian Bob Okala in Accra Saturday, as a former concert party producer collapsed and died during the ceremony.
The producer, identified simply as ‘99’, reportedly collapsed during the funeral at the Arts Centre, leading to him rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

The family of Bob Okala has decided to push back the dates of the final funeral rites for the late comedian.
Okala passed away unfortunately whilst performing at a Joy Industries program in the Eastern Regional capital Koforidua on Sunday, March 12.

Late comedy icon Bob Okala would be buried at the Osu Cemetery in Accra on the 7 th of May this year, it has been announced.
The veteran comedian died last month, after collapsing whilst performing at a program in the Eastern Regional capital Koforidua.

“Bob Okala died early Sunday, after he collapsed on stage whilst performing at an event in Koforidua. He was rushed to hospital but ultimately did not survive.
Okala, who had scaled back on public appearances due to health issues, nonetheless agreed to perform at a programme organised by Joy Industries at Koforidua Jackson Park on Saturday.
It was during that performance that he collapsed and died.”
From the above, a reasonable deduction can be drawn that, Okala was not fit to perform—but his pocket was somewhat dry or he couldn’t throw away a well paying gig because of ‘friendship.’
