An outbreak of bird flu has struck the country and led to the deaths of over 10,000 birds so far.
The new case of avian influennza has reportedly killed 5,431 in Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, 5,935 at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region and 450 birds at a farm at Tema.

Government is investigating alleged smuggle of bird flu poultry from Burkina Faso into the country which is reported to be the source of the recent bird flu outbreak at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
About 2000 birds was destroyed to avoid the spreading of the disease after results from the test conducted on the birds proved positive.
