2016 VGMA Artiste of the Year, Elorm Adabla, aka EL, says the nominations for the BET awards follows a sort of ‘whom you know’ pattern, which is why he believes he has not receive any nominations for the awards. EL, speaking to KMJ on Daybreak Hitz, said that he believed back in 2016 that his good work would speak for itself and get him nominated, not knowing he needed to have contacts and lay some groundwork before he would be considered.
Nigerian act Mr Eazi, one of the 8 nominated stars competing for the 2017 BET Award in the Best International Act, Africa, category, has expressed his stunning view that he sees himself as an upcoming artiste.
Speaking on his nomination for the award, Eazi said it’s the just the start of more things to come because he believes he hasn’t really accomplished anything yet.

After Stonebwoy (again) picked up Ghana’s only nomination for the 2017 BET awards night, most local artists were gracious and congratulated him on his win, Shatta instead took to social media to throw a typical childish tantrum.
C.E.O and leading act of ‘Off Da Ground Records‘ Fuse ODG has added his voice to the millions who expressed their opinion of how the just ended VGMAs was absolutely mean to Mr Eazi.
According to Fuse ODG, who was speaking to Berla Mundi on GhOne Tv, the VGMAs has not been fair to Mr. Eazi, especially when they previously failed to recognize him legible to be part of the scheme as a Ghanaian Artiste despite everything about his music being Ghanaian with his relentless effort of putting Ghana on the global map as well.

African artist should boycott the BET Awards and just concentrate on developing their careers. It baffles me that people who are highly successful and famous in Ghana, Nigeria and other parts of Africa continue to make a fool out of themselves on TV all because the TV station is American.
Let’s not forget that BET gives the awards of African acts backstage—yet these artistes are made to set up and pose as if, it was part of their main show in front of empty chairs (pre recorded with some folks from God knows where brought in to shout). Just look at the photo above…
Last year, Ice Prince embarrassed the other acts and by extension the whole African music industry by asking the other nominated artistes to join him on stage to take a picture—-in an almost empty auditorium so that those back home in Africa will think they are ‘ballin’…
This same absurd act was repeated by Davido at this year’s awards, bringing to light the question; why are some African artists so desperate for recognition from the US? Now don’t get me wrong, it is good to be celebrated abroad but the BET awards is not the Grammys—and if they don’t respect you there, why bother?.
Sarkodie alone is selling out at events back home so at least the biggest current rapper in Ghana should be treated with the respect he deserves. Then again, before he got on that stage he said “this is our time Africa”. Really?
