Being a black woman comes with inescapable difficulties—and for many centuries, black women have been marginalized by different regimes and interest groups.

It hurts when a person of a different colour sidelines black women but it goes beyond the pains of hurt when certain opportunities meant for our black sisters are thrown far away to white chicks by our own people…

I do not want to hear the global village argument here—because it does not hold water as to why a Ghanaian music video will completely fail to feature a single black woman, instead, it boldly parades several white ‘chicks.’

“Baba God”, the latest music video from the multiple award-winning Ghanaian artiste-Guru which was shot in Dubai has all ‘white chicks’ cast—and I don’t want to blame it on the shooting location because there are several beautiful young black women in Dubai.

Perhaps, it’s a mindset—and it has nothing to with the concept behind the video.

For a Ghanaian music video which is directed by a Ghanaian to cut off black vixens and throw in there several ridiculous ‘white chicks’—there must be a good reason for this. And I sort of think there is none, because, our people still have supreme affection for everything white and foreign…
