The just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has been described by many as okay and not fully ‘Recharged’ as the organisers and sponsors promised Ghanaians after charging a whooping 100GHC.
The event was characterised by both high and low moments. However, few days after the awards, one of the lowest moments where ‘Producer of the Year’ winner, Appietus goofed when invited to present an award for the ‘Highlife Artiste of the Year’ is already been discussed and getting people’s attention.
The celebrated Producer and Sound Engineer was invited to present an award for the ‘Highlife Artiste of the Year’. The nominees were Daddy Lumba, K.K. Fosu, Kwabena Kwabena, Kwasie Pee, George Darko and Lucky Mensah.
Instead he was given a wrong envelope that had the winner of the ‘Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste (s) of the Year’¸ which was eventually won by Kwaw Kese.
After the video of the nominees was played on the large screen on both sides of the stage, Appietus went ahead to mention Kwaw Kese as the winner. Immediately jeers and boos from the crowd accompanied his goof, instead he blamed Charter House, the organisers for the mistake to save his face.
