It looks like the definition of poverty changed over night when some of us were sleeping and we didn’t even catch the new definition until Ghana’s cocaine lady-Nayele Ametefe aka Ruby Appiah made appearance at a London Crown Court to be sentenced.
Yesterday, Nayele Ametefe was sentenced to 8 years and 8 months for smuggling about 12kg of cocaine into the UK—though she claims she was not really bringing the cocaine into the UK but was on her way to the Dominican Republic.
Perhaps, the fact that she claims UK was not her final destination fetched her what many regard as a lenient sentence. Interestingly, her lawyer is reported to have told the Court that Ruby is poor and circumstances pushed her into reluctantly becoming a drug trafficker.
