Alfred Agbesi Woyome claims the Supreme Court have forgotten about enforcing the law and instead are spending their time persecuting him.
The embattled businessman was the subject of a Supreme Court verdict Wednesday, in which the country’s apex court ruled that former Attorney General Martin Amidu should orally examine him to determine how the Ghc 51m judgement debt he once won from the state was spent.
Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, showed off some silky dance moves when the news that the Supreme Court had ruled in favour of Marting Amidu that Alfred Agbesi Woyome should be orally examined before the court.
Amidu won the judgement which would enable him to extract from the businessman to how the Ghc 51m judgement debt was spent by him – something which had prevented him from paying the money all this while despite a court ruling ordering him to pay.
Former Attorney General and famed citizen vigilante Martin Amidu has won a landmark victory at the Supreme Court in his case against the state and Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
The Supreme Court has ruled that Amidu can orally examine the businessman under oath before the court to attempt to divulge how the Ghc 51m judgement debt that he won was wasted by him.
Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome has paid back a sum of Ghc 4m to the state, the first step in paying back the Ghc 51.2 judgement debt wrongly paid him, as ordered by the Supreme Court.
The state had been having a torrid time enforcing the Supreme Court’s judgement, and met significant backlash when the Attorney General decided to withdraw a motion meant to compel Woyome to reveal his current assets – a move many saw as killing all interest by the state in retrieving the money.
Pressure Group OccupyGhana has expressed dismay with the decision of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong, to discontinue a motion in the case to retrieve the Ghc 51m judgement debt owed the state by businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
In a statement sent out after the news broke about government’s decision, OccupyGhana said the NDC government have never been serious about retrieving the money from Woyome because he is one of theirs and they are scared of what he might reveal about his accomplices if pursued too much.
The beginning of the end – of course they are no more interested in retrieving the money from Woyome – they never were.
The Attorney General has written to the Supreme Court notifying it of its decision to discontinue a new motion brought against businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome which had earlier been approved by the court.
The Supreme Court has ordered the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and UT Bank, two institutions patronised by the businessman Alfred Woyome, to empty his accounts for the money to be put to defraying the Ghc 51.2m he owes the state.
The amount stems from a judgement debt he was paid back in 2009, a decision the Supreme Court later reversed, ordering him to pay back the money.
One Ghanaian citizen who had just about had it with Woyome decided to attempt to physically attack the man. Of course, that line of action would definitely get you in the grips of police.
The man in question reportedly accosted Woyome and his family at the Achimota Mall last weekend, leading to a physical confrontation between him and the infamous Woyome.
