Groups form and splinter all the time and it’s not unusual for a great group to part on not so great terms. It’s happened to a lot of groups and it happened to Akyeame back in the day.
The duo (Kofi and Kwame), where successful for a sustained period before everyone went their way.

"I Left Akyeame Because I was Broke"- Okyeame Kwame Explains Why He Left Musical Duo "Akyeame"
Okyeame Kwame has finally broken the silence on the reason behind his longtime split from the former musical duo Akyeame and it is nothing close to what we thought of.
Akyeame was a musical duo made up of Okyeame Kwame and Okyeame Quophi back in the 90’s— these two took hip life music to a whole different dimension though it was short lived.

The early days of Akyeame was mega for those of us who were old enough to enjoy their excellence musical collaborations. It was a perfect union of two talented young men who were looking to make it musically—and as such, they pumped every blood in them into their work.
At that time, their pockets were not that full and they looked way different from how we know them today. Money changes people—let’s say time rather changes people.
Yesterday, we posted a photo of President John Dramani Mahama and his wife-Lordina, showing how far they’ve come in life. Today, we have Akyeame (Okyeame Kwame and Okyeame Quophi) and Mr. Fred Nuamah, founder of Ghana Movie Awards for you…
Indeed, until you are dead, you never know what life has for you.

SPOTLIGHT: Okyeame Quophi – A Real Creative Gem
Late1990 saw an upsurge of rap groups and duos from all over Ghana and prominent amongst them was AKYEAME, the duo from which Okyeame Quophi emerged. Given his God given creative prowess Quophi was the main composer and writer of the duo and a performer as well.
Being the indoor type naturally, Quophi picked up music production skills from studio sessions and immediately started practicing with his own home studio which helped greatly in churning out the great hits from the band. Akyeame became a household name in no time and rose to pick the first ever best Hip Life song of the year award for their never dying song ‘Mesan Aba’ at the maiden of Ghana Music Awards in 2000.
Till date the song remains one of his biggest compositions. After five albums, Quophi was left with a solo career option which he took and recorded his ever popular ‘Quophilosophy’ album which had ‘Shake Dat Thang’ and the ‘Kolo’ songs making waves in night clubs and all dance avenues in 2004.
Okyeame Kwame Shows Maturity As He Tackles The Quophi-Kwame Saga + How On Earth Can Someone Know That His Best Friend Impregnated His Wife In His House…
Naturally, when people are stressed up or angry, they are most likely to blame the people near them in order to get ease their resentment.
Many have been wondering why Okyeame Quophi in an attempt to react to certain publications fired up unnecessary missils. To some of us, it is very clear why he is still talking and every statement he makes is like a clue to unmask the real picture
Okyeame Quophi said “my decision not release records after ‘Quophilosophy’ was basically to allow my brother to have his shine since it looked like he was too hungry for it and anything from me would be destruction”. This is a blatant lie since he is already nursing an upcoming album and wants to use Okyeame Kwame to promote the album like Obrafour did with ‘Kaseibo’ which eventually won him an award at the Ghana Music Awards 2010.
If Quophi is not bitter, do you think he will make a statement like this? “… If I am not miscalculating, he even impregnated his wife in my house. During his acceptance speech at Ghana Music Awards, who did he thank for allowing him stay in his house? Was it not KOD?”
How can one determine whether a friend impregnated his wife in his house or not? Is this a case of come ‘come-watch-me-impregnate-her’?
Kwame has refused to exchange words with him even though Quophi is still throwing tantrums. Little investigation and team chit-chat from the camp of GhanaCelebrities.com came out that Quophi is more bitter because Kwame refused two music videos from Emklan. The latter paid the former to direct a music video for him and after, he realized the video is too ‘whack’ bad.
