It seems the Gay rights debate in Africa will not end any time soon as many people are clutching onto the notion that homosexual activities are putting our African cultural values under attack.

Interestingly, homosexuals were given the right to marry in the UK yesterday—and this came with a lot of joy for both the Gay community and the non-Gay community, as this maps the road to equality and substantial tolerance.

Back in Ghana, we have individuals like the Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mike Ocquaye saying,  those seeking for Gay rights are satanic threat to our Africa traditional family system—as if the Western world have always had Gays as part of their traditional family system.

What happened to tolerance and equality?

According to RadioXYZ;

Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mike Ocquaye has warned that Africa’s traditional family system is under threat from gay promoters from the West.

“We consider this an abomination. We don’t want a moustache man marrying another bearded man and it is the right of the children to call a man father and a woman mother. Children brought up in the other way will become what we call miscreants,” the history professor told an antigay forum in Accra.

He said: “Indeed the family is under satanic attack and we should take great care to protect it,” adding that: “We Africans have certain values and our friends who want remain our friends in the Western world must respect our values.”
