Black Stars manager Avram Grant has dropped three players from his initial 26 man squad as he submits his final 23 man squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

Austria Lustenau forward Raphael Dwamena, who has scored 18 goals in 20 games for his club this season, is one of those spectacularly dropped – alongside former youth international Joseph Attamah Larweh and Abdul Majeed Warris.

The Black Stars begin their quest for a long awaited fifth Afcon trophy in Gabon, and the national broadcaster have revealed it would carry all of the tournament’s 32 games live.

The qualification series for Afcon 2017 was completed over the weekend, with Ghana rounding out ours with a lethargic 1-1 draw against Rwanda, having already booked our place on the last matchday.
The entire 16 team roster for the competition has now been rounded out, and alongside host Gabon, we now know who would potentially be in the Black Star’s way as they attempt to win their first Afcon trophy since 1982!

Black Stars Held By Rwanda In Final Afcon Qualifier

The Black Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by the Amavubis of Rwanda to round out qualifying Group H for the 2017 Cup of African Nations to be held in Gabon.
The game at the Accra Sports Stadium was practically a dead rubber, with the Stars already through to the event. This reflected in Avram Grant’s selection choices and the pace at which the game was played.

Ghana Misses Out On Hosting AFCON 2017: Gabon To Host

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has chosen Gabon to host the 2017 African Cup of Nations.

The final draw came down to bids from Algeria, Ghana, and Gabon, but the Confederation’s executive committee decided on our West African neighbours.

Gabon co-hosted the tournament with Equatorial Guinea in 2012, and has now also earned sole hosting rights after the Equato-Guineans also hosted the 2015 edition.
