It has emerged that over 4,000 Ghanaians risked their lives between January and December, 2015 to travel by boat to Italy—in search for a better life.
This year, we’ve seen a lot of deaths on the Mediterranean sea of illegal immigrants attempting to cross the sea into Europe, because African leaders continue to push the continent deep into poverty.
In a rank of such illegal travels to Italy, Ghana has been raked 10th in the world and 5th in Africa.
The Chief of Mission of the International Organisation of Migration (IOM) in Ghana, Ms Sylvia Lopez Ekra, made this known at a meeting to commemorate the International Migrants Day in Accra.
