blank
Ghana Music Awards

On Saturday 10th April, 2010, all the attention will be shifted to the Dome at the Accra International Conference Centre, where the 11th edition of the prestigious and biggest entertainment show, Ghana Music Awards will be held.

Radio presenter from X-FM, actor and host for Stars of the Future, Miss Malaika and Rhythmz TV, Chris Attoh will host the 11th edition of the Ghana Music Awards alongside host of Joy FM’s Cosmopolitan Mix and Lunch Time Rhythms,  Doreen Andoh.

Artistes to perform on the night to give unforgettable experience to the audience are gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy, Abrantie Amakye Dede, Ghana’s fastest rapper Sarkodie, dynamic duos 4×4 and Wutah, Ghana Rap Osofour Obrafour, R2Bees, VIP, and international artistes such as Donae O and Wande Coal of Bumper to Bumper fame.

Don’t be left out of this experience.

Below are GhanaCelebrities.com predictions for the night. What we think will necessarily not be the outcome of the awards. Therefore we wish all the nominated artistes good luck

A. Artiste(s) Of the Year

The favourite Artistes to win this category will fall on the neck of Sarkodie, 4X4 and Bradez. The competition is straight between those three. SARKODIE will win this but I will not be surprised if Bradez pulls a surprise.

B. Most Popular Song of the Year

There are three songs I hear everyday when I go out, Simple by Bradez, Kotosa by Wutah and World Trade Centre by 4X4. 4X4 are one of my favourite but I don’t like the idea for their song. I feel it’s a mockery of 9/11. Kotosa is good but SIMPLE by BRADEZ deserves it more and will win it

Majid Michel And His ‘Brothers’ Shine In The ATL

Majid with smg

The SMG (Sputnic Music Group) studios in Atlanta, Georgia was the venue for a celebrity mini-party which included the likes of Abdul Salaam Mumuni of Venus Films Production fame, Mr Abodam aka Kwaw Kese, and Ghana’s screen idol Majid Michel, who declared, “I’m just here to spend quality time with my brothers.”

The owner of the SMG studios is a Ghanaian producer and engineer named Sputnic. Currently blowing up the producing scene in the USA hip-hop circuit, he’s not as well known in Ghana so therefore, I think it is time for a brief introduction.

Sputnic has worked with a variety of A-List music artists including the likes of Akon, Teddy Riley, T.I., Wyclef Jean, Outkast, Jermaine Dupri, Dallas Austin and many more.

Can Ghana Music Award Be Bought? Part 2

This is the final part of the article ‘Can Ghana Music Awards Be Bought’? Click here to read the part one.

blankCharter House must construct a suitable system to determine the inclusion of artists from other Ghanaian regions. This must be done in order to dispel the perception that the Ghana Music Awards is strictly for Accra-based music artists.

Not only would a new system avoid discrimination across the regions when it comes to nominating artists, it should also be implemented in order to ensure that the committee members have facts before selecting the nominees of a particular category in order to avoid embarrassing occurrences.

These include when Ohemaa Mercy’s producer had to be contacted in order to find out when ‘Obeye Kesse’ was released, or when Okyeame Kwame was contacted to ask about which of his brothers in the rap duo Bradez should be nominated in the ‘Best Rapper of the Year’ category.

One would assume that as committee members, they would be aware of this information already. It seems quite unbelievable that the awards have been happening for 11 years now, yet there seems to be very little progress made in terms of the system and acquiring of information.
