The Haitian born actor and founder of Hollywood Unites for Haiti, will receive the Humanitarian Award from Academy Award winning actor Sean Penn during International Luxury Media’s 3rd Annual Better World Awards’ (BWA) Glitter and Glam Ball. Osei Bonsu, Counsel for Ghanaian Football superstar and Chelsea midfielder, has categorically denied media reports that his client, Michael Essien, has shirked his responsibility by not supporting the father financially, stressing that his client has been playing his role as a son accordingly.

Lawyer Osei Bonsu has therefore called on Opanyin James Kwaku Asiedu (Essien’s father) to be “grateful to his son” for “his benevolence”.

A couple of weeks ago, PEACEFM had an exclusive interview with the Chelsea midfielder’s father, where he accused the son, among other things, of neglecting him and also refusing to cater for his up-keep.

Increasing Collaboration Between Ghana And Nigeria Artists: Good Move Or A bad One?

The inevitably spread of music genres across the globe has spawned some excellent musicians and Ghana is no exception to this feat. As the originator of the highlife genre which spread to other African countries such as Nigeria, Sierra-Leone, Cote D’Ivoire, Liberia and others in the 1900s, Ghana set a musical trend that still survives to this day. But it seems that the role has been reversed: now popular Nigeria artists have set a trend that Ghanaian artists are aspiring to follow.

No one can doubt the popularity of Nigerians artists such as D’Banj, 2Face Idibia, P-Square, Wande Coal and 9ice here in the UK. Their music continuously graces our dance floors at many Ghanaian parties as well as clubs. The obvious success of Nigerian music overseas has prompted some prominent Ghanaian artists to learn from their Naija counterparts, and this is being done through a series of collaboration between Ghana and Nigerian artists.

Renowned American- Ghanaian film director, Leila Djansi, is working on another blockbuster movie as part of her credentials- her latest film work in the pipeline  ‘Sinking Sands’, is set to be released in 2011, and already, critics are acclaiming it would be one of her most successful movies.

Miss Djansi made the transition into film after winning a regional beauty pageant. With the realisation that being a director was what she wanted to do, she enrolled at Ghana’s National Film and Television School, and from here, she continued her film education at Manifold College. She left Ghana in the late 1990s, in order to complete her ‘Film and Television’ degree at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, USA.

The Ewe Rapper Ayigbe Edem has issued an official statement to state what necessitated him to record his telephone conversation with his ex-lover Confidence Haugen of Aphrodisiac Night Club.

The rapper who won the Hip Hop Song of the Year with his track ‘You Dey Craze’ apologizes to his fans, observers and Ghanaians as a whole for contributing to the chaos going on now. He is therefore pleading for his carelessness and hopes he is forgiven.

He finally has this to whoever has the recordings “I am therefore pleading with the person responsible to please desist from publishing anymore of these.  If the person thinks he or she is doing it in favor of me, I’d like to tell him/her that they are mistaken, as it is rather hurting both parties.  I apologize to the music industry, my loved ones, my fans and Ghanaians as a whole, for being careless with my private affairs, resulting in this chaos”.
