One of the pioneers of the Ghana Movie Industry, Hammond Mensah of H. M. Films is ready to premiere and release to the general public it’s latest action packed thriller movie with the title ‘Who Own Da City’.
Watching the movie with fellow entertainment journalists with an eagle eye, it was clear why Mr. Hammond Mensah had invested so much in the movie, it was because he needed to make an impact after several years of being on the quiet.
Also, I believe it was a call to his other producers that, indeed movies such as ‘Who Owns Da City’ can be produced down here in Ghana.

Following the articles that Ghanacelebrities.com wrote regarding the death of Claudia Aderotimi (for those of you that are not familiar with the story click here), I have been thinking about what would drive an already beautiful young woman to die in such tragic circumstances. I know that she wanted to be a ‘hip-hop video girl’, but I truly do not believe that this was the only factor that caused her to get cosmetic surgery, ultimately leading to her death.
As a 21-year-old young woman, I am well aware of the pressures faced in contemporary society by both men and women- women more so than men. Not only are we faced with an onslaught of how to make ourselves look younger or better, but our eyes and minds are barraged with images of celebrities who appear to look like Gods and Goddesses, making us disillusioned enough to believe that our bodies will never reach such ‘perfection’.
I just came across the article below published on PeaceFm, Ghana Nation and other Ghanaian websites.
Please help me out and tell me what is the definition of ‘Hollywood’ movie. There are thousands of movies produced per year here in the USA and more than half of them are not considered ‘Hollywood’ movies.
Is it me or are some people in Nollywood and Ghallywood are so stupid as to believe that when someone comes from America to make a movie it is suddenly “Hollywood”? I get so damned aggravated when I read these foolishness.
Do they know the number of movies made in Miami alone because some drug dealer wants to launder his money? Believe me they are not “Hollywood” movies and will never be considered as such.
I think it is high time Ghanaians stop being delusional about this Hollywood thing and get educated about the facts.
How you “go” feel if you wake up and meet the below email in your inbox? I felt so embarrassed as a Ghanaian Entertainment/Celebrity blogger and also the founder of the biggest Ghanaian Entertainment blog.
We all have our favourite celebrity blogs online and one of the bookmarked blogs you can find on my laptop is SandraRose.Com ( which comes next to GC on my collection). Sandra Rose is a notorious and influential USA based celebrity blogger. If you do not know about SandraRose’s blog, then let me tell you … Read more
All over the world, celebrities are “species” of mankind with strong love for attention; they continuously seek for media coverage when it is favourable to them. The fame of almost every celebrity is heavily embedded in PR strategies which are fully dependant on the media.
Believe it or not, the media play an indispensable role in making and unmaking a celebrity in every part of the world. In fact, celebrities to a greater extent owe their existence to the media and this is evident from the intertwined relationship between the two, leaving the former without any private room to operate.
According to our sister blog NigeriaShowBiz.Com, Nollywood Star Actress Omotola Ekeinede appeared on the redcarpet of the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards which was held on 13th February,2011 at Staples Center in LA.
Omotola’s appearance at the Grammy Awards is making a lot of buzz on the internet. Apart from the fact that she is the 1st Nollywood Actress to make a red carpet appearance which has created the buzz, it came as a big surprise to most Nigerians and African movie lovers.
I was engaged in a hot debate with my “single” friends yesterday (Val’s Day). What else would single ladies do on Val’s Day apart from debating and fantasying about our ideal men?
Ideal Men! Do they really exist? I guess the men also have their ideal women. Education or the level of education really matters to some people including my two female friends with whom I was in a heated debate with yesterday.
According to Abena who has a masters degree, she will not go for any man with an educational level below what she has obtained. This means, if you have not had a university or an equivalent education, do not bother to even talk to her.
Valentine’s Day has been established as a day to express love, and actress Juliet Ibrahim-Safo and her family did just that on Monday when they donated some essential items to patients at the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra.
The family also settled the hospital bills for some of the patients at the hospital. Juliet was joined by her sweet mother and sister, Sonia to make the donations!
Happy Val’s Day to ya all. How are you guys celebrating today? My day has not started well but hoping it will get better …
I am not sure where most of you would be reading this from; your offices, in bed, at restaurants via phones and other places.
I am writing this from my University library. I am late for my 9am EU law seminar and to safe me from the embarrassment of being kicked out of the class, I decided to check into the library and post this message.
Celebrities like all other human beings have mysteries that cannot be unravelled, secrets that are impossible to divulge and stories that make it hard to comprehend their lifestyles.
I have realised most actors and actresses share the same ‘cock and bull story’ when questioned about how it all started for them. “I accompanied a sister or friend for an audition, a producer spotted and encouraged me to give it a shot and eventually came out as an actor”.
GhanaCelebrities.Com was saddened to hear of the tragic death of 20-year-old Nigerian wannabe hip-hop video girl, Claudia Aderotimi. Judging by most of your comments, the majority of you were also saddened to hear of the passing away of this young woman, especially in such tragic circumstances.
However, the case has now taken a shocking turn; an arrest warrant was issued for the ‘surgeon’ that performed the operation, and one of Claudia’s friends who was present in the hotel room when the fatal injection was administered inside Claudia.
GhanaCelebrities.Com can now reveal that the friend, who has been deemed as ‘witness 1’ in the warrant issued by Philadelphia police, is 20-year-old Theresa Gyamfi, a Ghanaian.
