The Making Of Sinking Sands – About The Production

blank
Stinking Sand Coming Soon

Platinum Award Winning and, African Movie Academy Award-nominated director LEILA DJANSI started writing the script for “Sinking Sands” in March 2009, as result of being self-conscience of her scar.

“I have a scar on my arm that I always felt self-conscience about, because I am a girl. I always felt this was something that stuck out on me. I began to think, what would happen if someone had a very visible scar, how would it affect them,” shares Leila.

Being the story is based loosely on her scar; she decided to give the scar to a male character, because she feels men have more complex emotions and feelings than women. It would have been too easy to give the woman a scar. With a scar a woman is automatically not physically attractive. With a man, it may not be as superficial.

The Issue Of Gender Equality Or Inequality Hits Big Brother Africa, What Is Your Take On This As Man Beats Woman In BB House On Live Tv….

blank

The Big Brother Africa is in it’s 60 days and still going but this week saw a controversial decision and absurd conduct by two of the house mates-Hannington Kuteesa (male) from Uganda and Lerato Sengadi ( female) from South Africa.

The aged always say when you see two people fighting, it is always better to ask what happened yesterday or the day before because most fights spring from the past. Let me take you far back before the actual beating then….

In the BB house, Lerato in a continuous manner verbally abused her housemate Hannington until the latter got very upset and physically abused her (beat her up on live TV).

Various Rights Groups and viewers called for the kick out of the African Chris-Brown (woman beater) which M-Net, the organizers of the ongoing Big Brother All Star did.

What happened to the woman verbal abuser? She remains in the BB House but punished or admonished by undertaking a task designed by Big Brother to punish her.

No one will tolerate violence in any form towards any other in this world, either verbal or physical no matter where it is coming from (man or woman).

Chorkor Trotro

He calls himself ‘Funny Face’ but when you meet him, the man actually has a serious face, not funny at all. Geez! He is one of the few people you will see and burst out laughing out loud.

Funny Face currently plays Chemu, a funny trotro mate in a comedy TV drama Chorkor Trotro. A mention of his name attracts the phrase “I Got Ma Swag On”.

He was the only Ghanaian comedian on show A Night of 1010 Laughs and Music at the Conference Centre some few weeks ago. After doing well in his maiden edition of the show, he came back to say that now the ladies are calling him ‘sexy’.

Trust me, this itself is a joke.

Fashion & Lifestyle: Flashback, All Things Ghanaian

blank

Our common history as people would not be complete without delving into to the fashion of yesteryear. Which is why with your help, we can develop a top ten necessities in past decades. Please enjoy and feel free to add to this research dubbed “all things Ghanaian”.

Starting with the 1990’s: The Akosua Agyapong Hairstyle, picture a roller set head of hair being brushed up top and curled back down in a mushroom design. This musical icon made it work to the point that, some fans who didn’t have a lot of hair improvised and wore a hair band backward to emphasize the mushroom depth at the back of the hair.

Followed by the 1980’s: Nana Acheampong might have used to rock this Geri Curl that put the Coming to America actors to shame. I mean it was just massive and with his dance moves, his hairstyle gained a huge gravity which brought a rise in beauticians gaining male clientele.

For the 1970’s: wearing an afro was a license to display your kinky hair pride. Ghana is known to be hospitable which could very well have come from this 1960’s necessity:

Fathiya Fata (compliments) Nkrumah Kente clothe, its colours resemble the love of the people for their First Lady Fathiya Nkrumah and the shine of the clothe recognizes the rich love between her and His Excellency Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

I have not been able to pinpoint who created this rich clothe, though it was known to be shrouded in a bit of controversy-after the coup-, according to a Kente saleswoman I met in Bonwire it remains one of the best selling Kente series.

1940’s-1900’s Ghanaian lifestyle necessity has to have been boycotting, rallying, sit-ins, strike that built up to our independence in 1957.blank
