This old man decided to go for his own granddaughter when he felt like it, but an Accra Circuit Court frowned upon his decision, and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
Emmanuel Oko Lartey, 64, was arraigned on charges of defilement and incest, for both of which the judge found him guilty. He was sentenced to 10 and 15 years respectively on both counts, but the sentences are to run concurrently.
The incidents occurred last year, as narrated to the court by the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah, and as reported by the Ghana News Agency.
The victim used to run errands for her grandfather, and the old man took advantage of the situation to sleep with her twice, leading to the victim’s pregnancy.
In this modern world people get divorced a lot, and for lots of reasons, not all of which make the best sense. But this man in India certainly takes the cake in this category, having divorced his wife for wanting too much seks.
The man, from Mumbai in India, told a court that he could not live with his wife anymore, because she had been making insatiable demands of him, and refused to let up even when he was ill and recuperating.
The couple got married in April 2012, and the man told the court that the problem has been present ever since they tied the knot.
In a petition filled with a litany of abuse he had supposedly suffered at his wife’s hands, the man called for a dissolution of his marriage, saying he could not keep up with his wife’s ‘excessive and insatiable’ demands.
The image of the old lady as a witch stereotype is one that has been immortalised by several cultural and religious beliefs in Ghana over the years, and the advent of the modern film industry has elevated the stereotype to levels where it’s almost a universally regarded fact.

A Daily Guide report depicts the casting out of the demons out of a 67 year old self confessed witch, which if true means the most powerful spiritualist since Jesus Christ is hiding out somewhere in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The Prophet in question is a certain Prophet Owusu Agyeman Prempeh, founder and leader of the Ebenezer Healing Church of God at Akyem Oda. In what was believed to be a three hour session, he cast out the demons from the witch, which led to the digging up of some good old witch memorabilia: to wit a pot containing fresh human blood and a heart, a live snake, a spear, a locked padlock, three wedding rings, and some currency including the new and old Ghana Cedis, as well as some US Dollars.
For the past three months the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG), had been on strike bemoaning government’s plans to scrap their book and research allowances for a national research fund.
The body thus went on strike in May, and were later joined by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) earlier this month, also over the same research allowance.
Polytechnic students the country over, after over three months of anguish, can finally breathe a huge sigh of relief as the General Secretary of POTAG announced the cancellation of the strike earlier today.
The strike came at a particularly bad time, especially for final year students who were in the middle of their final dissertations, whilst to this day exams for the third semester has not been held for those students to complete their polytechnic education.
The General Secretary, Ibrahim Adamu, announced that the group had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), after a fruitful meeting with the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations regarding the issue.

The Telegraph reports that Oscar Aguilar, a resident of Medero died after he attempted to pose for a selfie with a gun.
Unknown to Aguilar, the gun was loaded and accidentally went off as he was trying to take the picture.
Aguilar was home with two friends, Omar Campos Vives, and another one known only as ‘El Paco’, who fled the scene when police arrived.
Campos was arrested on the scene, and told police that “Aguilar was playing around with the gun and decided to take a selfie with it without realising it was loaded”

Some weeks ago, a couple was arrested for killing their little boy for attempting to have sex with his mother, earlier this week, a man decapitated his son to ‘show’ his wife for refusing to have sex with him.
The latest bizarre incident involves a woman from the Western Region who burnt the hands of her six year old daughter for devouring the meal she had reserved for her husband, the girl’s father.
The woman, Yaa Yaaba, gagged her own six year old, then held her hand over some fire to ‘teach her a lesson’. It took the girl’s screams to attract the attention of other members of the Oppong Valley community.
Reports indicate it took the intervention of several ‘strong’ men in the community to wrestle the girl out of her mom’s fierce grip.
The woman is currently in Police custody pending further investigations.
Yaa Yaaba, apparently cooked the meal for her husband and left it to run some errands.
The hungry little girl ate her father’s meal in the absence of her mother, not knowing that innocuous act was going to land her in literal hell.

Music star-Sir Elton John who hopes to marry filmmaker-David Furnish next year has said, if Jesus Christ was alive, the Messiah would have supported gay marriages.
Speaking to UK’s Sky News on the same weekend as the London Pride parade, Sir Elton John said: “If Jesus Christ was alive today, I cannot see him, as the Christian person that he was and the great person that he was, saying this could not happen. He was all about love and compassion and forgiveness and trying to bring people together.
And that is what the Church should be about.”
Though it is obvious that Sir Elton John wants the Church to do more in relation to gay marriages, he acknowledged how far the Church has come and praised Archbishop of Canterbury and Pope Francis, whom he described as a “wonderful” man who had stripped back church teaching to reveal its fundamental message of love.
That is far away in Europe; they are talking about gay marriages and how the Church should support that. Back in Ghana, the legal framework does not even recognise the rights of gays—let alone the Church.
