A colleague jokingly said; Yvonne Nelson and Sulley Muntari would get on well. I bet Muntari would knock her out with his attitude and then she would know how it feels to be proper mean and arrogant. I am not cunningly saying Muntari is any of the above but just passing on what someone suggested.

Sulley Muntari is in the news again and as usual, it is about his attitude and manners. After Black Stars were kicked out from the FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa by Uruguay, Muntari left the team and rushed to Ghana for what is only known to him.
The Ghana Football Association is not pleased with this conduct of his as they preferred that the entire team should have come home together. Sulley, the only “prodigal” son in the team ditched the whole team and hurried to Kotoka.
Personally, I do find anything wrong with Muntari rushing home to have some breast milk. After all, it is Ghana he came to and not Nigeria or Ivory Coast.

It appears that the new craze in the pre-screening of Ghanaian movies is to not show the full length of movies to the critics/the press. First it was the movie, ‘Trinity’ and more recently, it was repeated at the screening of ‘The Game’. Just as I said when reviewing ‘Trinity’, I wish that a point would come when movie critics and the press would be invited to watch a movie and make suggestions that would be effected before a movie is released. However after watching producer/director, Frank Raja Arase’s interaction with the press, I am convinced that might not happen in this lifetime.
Frank Raja, who clearly believed that he is ‘the omnipotent movie director’ and that his movie, ‘The Game’ is the best thing that ever happened to the movie industry, put up an unnecessarily arrogant attitude (not for the first time) against pressmen who asked questions about his movie during the screening at the Silverbird Cinemas.
A reporter who did not understand certain elements of the movie, asked the director to explain the story behind the movie. Frank rubbished the reporter’s question and said that if he had to explain the movie to the reporter, that would mean he didn’t do a good job as a director. Hint! Hint! If after watching the movie for almost 2 hours, more than one reporter wanted to find out the story behind the movie, then quite clearly he had failed to some extent as a director. He shouldn’t get it twisted; he is no Quentin Tarantino. The only reason why they wanted him to explain the story was because the movie gets confusing due to unnecessary use of visual and sound effects, several pointless scenes, and an innovative but reckless approach to story narration.

This weeks discussion centers around First Dates. Who do you think should pay for first dates? I have always thought that when the man asks for a date, he is supposed to do the paying. Same way when a woman asks a man for a date, she is supposed to pay.
In the minds of many men, the issue of virginity is overshadowed by cynicism. I am a prototype of such men since I am very skeptical about “virgin women”. Do not get me wrong; even though I am skeptical about this issue, I am very realistic in the face of my skepticism. Africa Movie Academy Award-nominee Leila Djansi has replaced actor Eamonn Walker with Nigerian actor Yemi Blaq in her latest psychological drama “Sinking Sands”.
Yemi is a popular Nollywood actor best known for his roles in “Entanglement” movie series and “Total Control” and “Total Control 2”. He is a graduate of University of Benin with a Bachelors of Arts in Theater Arts. Most recently, he won season two of “Celebrity Takes 2,” Nigeria’s version of popular reality show “Dancing With The Stars”.
When I posted a write up asking which of the “Black Star Players Sucks The Most” based on our kick out by Uruguay, I got various lashes from readers on the grounds that I am being ungrateful. The production house known for its knack for quality, tried their hands on producing movies as well. They produced ‘Fire to Fire’, which featured local comedian Agya Koo. The movie earned them the tag ‘too known’. A name they acquired from their competitors when actually they were not competing with anybody according to John Apea.

In this new movie ‘The Game’, Yvonne Okoro played a role of Brandy Osei, a desperate talkative who falls in love with a man, Ronny Lawson (John Dumelo) she’s not set her eyes on.
Answering question on why she accepted to play such a role, Yvonne told GhanaCelebrities.com “I think the script was different. Most of the movies I have done, I think am always a house wife or some other roles even though they were leading roles”.
“So I thought, me being young and the person I am, I talk a lot so I said okay let me accept this and because of the director and the other cast”.
Have you noticed that when you reach a certain age the clock in your head starts to give hints about marriage? Is this clock biological or sometimes is it also society (like your family or friends) that ticks in your head? If anybody had told me marriage is about age when growing up, then I think I would have waited a little bit before hitting 20 and above. Unfortunately this is not how this commitment appears to function. I am not the type that is scared of ageing.
I don’t know about any of you, but I think ageing makes one wiser and confident. The song says ‘all you need is love’, and I couldn’t agree more. Some people probably started making wedding plans before hitting 20. For instance thoughts of what their wedding is going to be like, where and what age they ‘must’ settle down. I have come across many people who always relate marriage to age and got me thinking…what is this about? Who makes these rules anyway?
What happened to ‘I am in love and want to spend the rest of my life with the one I want to be the mother or father of my children. Instead of ‘I need to settle down because I am ageing’?
I try to stay away from such people to avoid the pressure of settling down because of age or for comfort. Marriage as I have understood is a union between two individuals depending on the culture. Perhaps I should get a reality check but I am sure some will agree with me that marriage and having a family is about taking a responsibility for another individual. It seems like some of us do forget this and rush into marriage for the reason of ageing. There is absolutely nothing wrong in getting married in my point of view. I still endure in the age of romance and would settle for the sake of passion, understanding and caring.
‘Kε Vim’ has been used on the build-up to the first anniversary of the Zain Waakye Party. The anniversary version was held last Sunday, the 4th of July 2009 at the Aviation Social Centre.
The party moved from the usual venue at Auntie Muni inside Labone to a spacious venue where the event recorded large numbers of facebookers (call them facebook ‘gbee’. Gbee is used to describe addicts of something in the local parlance) gathered to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the Facebook Waakye Party.
The party began at 10:00am but yours truly got there at 1:00pm. Soon every available space at the parking lot had been occupied with vehicles, while hundreds of people ready to party made their way to the forecourt of the venue.
