Ghanaian social media users have heaped praise on the President of Burkina Faso, Ibrahima Traore, for the respect he showed Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku during the inauguration on January 7th.
The Burkinabe military leader, who was one of the highest-profile leaders invited to the program, made headlines for two distinct reasons at the event.
First, there was a lot of social media discussion over his decision to greet the President, John Dramani Mahama, while still having his gun on him.
Ghanaians complained heavily that he should have been disarmed before going to meet the President.
However, Traore also made headlines for the right reasons after he was spotted taking off his military cap before greeting the Vice President, Professor Opoku Agyemang.
Netizens said his action showed he was a respectful man and properly trained to show respect to women.
“A man born of a woman must show respect 🔥if it is easy go run am,” one user commented.
Another wrote: “A respectful man…He obviously knows she’s older than him 👏😍”
