Young and vibrant Kumawood actress turned musician Maame Yaa Konadu Jackson, known on-screen as Yaa Jackson, has said that awards do not define her.

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Showbiz which Ghanacelebrities.com monitored, Yaa Jackson said that she was not tickled by not getting awards.

Yaa Jackson believes that her greatest achievement as a musician is having an audience who listens, shares, and supports her music career.

She stated that having a fan base is enough for her, and she thanks God for blessing her with such.

“Awards are nice, but they are not everything. I am blessed with amazing fans and that is what matters”, she said.

The singer highlighted the relevance of awards, revealing that awards give one recognition, and help them to get numerous business deals.

However, Yaa insisted that she is rather focusing on meeting the expectations of her staunch fans rather than focusing so much on awards.

“Sure, recognition is great. But I am not defined by awards. I will keep making music that connects with my audience”, the actress and musician added.

Yaa Jackson noted that being a popular Kumawood actress did not facilitate her musical journey, noting that the journey has been tough so far.

According to Yaa Jackson, getting people to feature makes her give up on music sometimes.

Even though Yaa has had the opportunity to feature some top musicians, including Fameye, Bisa KDei, Kofi Nti just to mention a few, she said that getting musicians for features is extremely difficult.

However, she expressed gratitude to the few musicians who gave her the chance to collaborate with them.

She said “Getting features can be tough, but I believe in my music. I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with talented artists, and I’m grateful for that. The music community lifts each other, and I appreciate that vibe.”

Yaa Jackson who recently released a new song dubbed “Moses” thanked Dancehall enigma, Shatta Wale for his contribution towards making the song go viral.

Yaa stated that following the release of the song, Shatta Wale, who she was not even close to has helped her in the promotion of the song.

“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Shatta Wale, the king, for his incredible support on my new single, Moses,” she noted.
