NPP Must Dissolve National Executive Team After Humiliating 38% Loss – A Plus

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Honourable Kwame Asare Obeng, aka A Plus, has called for the entire national executive committee members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to resign following their humiliating defeat in the 2024 elections.

Speaking on Adekye Nsoroma on UTV on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Honourable Obeng said the NPP has refused to learn from their election defeat and continues to engage in the same political tactics and cheap propaganda that handed them the most devastating defeat in the party’s electoral history.

He said for the party to rebuild itself and move forward, all its national leaders must resign for new leadership to take over. A Plus pointed to advanced countries such as the UK, where the leaders of major parties usually resign from their roles once the party suffers such a tremendous defeat.

“After leading such a massive party to such an embarrassing defeat, the Executives should be hiding in their rooms,” A Plus said. “[In] any serious party in the world, the leadership would apologise to the party and take the blame. The worst result in the history of Ghanaian elections,”

A Plus was flabbergasted that instead of apologising to Ghanaians for their poor performance in office, which led to their massive electoral defeat, the party is instead engaging in a ‘thank you’ tour, wondering what they were thanking Ghanaians for.

Honourable Asare Obeng also pointed to the party’s failure to heed dissenting voices during their time in office as a major reason for their defeat. He said instead of the party retreating from that kind of arrogance, they continue to exhibit it in everything they do.

“They are arrogant; they have not changed,” A Plus continued. “People were angry for years, leading to your loss, yet you refuse to change.”
