Diminutive Kumawood actor, Yaw Dabo has opened keys, stating that YouTube pays extremely well.

Yaw Dabo noted that the old way of selling their works was characterized by a lot of problems, stating that there were instances where someone would come and take the CDs, go and sell but refuse to give the producer what is due them.

However, Yaw Dabo stated that the same cannot be said about YouTube because, apart from the little deduction, the rest of the money, the major part, belongs to the creator.

Yaw Dabo went on to add that some of the actors are paid 20k Cedis for just a youtube shoot; stating that if the producer does not receive more than that, they wouldn’t have paid the characters that huge amount.

Talking about the other characters too, Yaw Dabo noted that initially, an actor or actress would be on set for a week and be paid 500 GHANA Cedis.

However, the story is different now, as he stated that this time around, the actors charges per day, and no character charges less than 500 Cedis a day, so, if a character charges 1000 Cedis per day and is to be on a set for a week, they will be taking 7000 Cedis for that.

He stressed that youtube pays a lot, revealing that it pays in dollars, so, the little dollar one makes, when converted becomes more than enough.

“With youtube, we gain more than those that were selling the CDs. With the CDs someone can come and take your CDs to go and sell and will not even give you a pesewa. But with the youtube, you will not share anything with anyone. The only one you will give something small is youtube itself”.

He went on to add that “YouTube pays a lot. They pay very well. A producer can take a character and pay them 20k, 10k, 5k and more”.
