Afenyo Markin Should Be Arrested and Charged Or Else… – Kevin Taylor Warns IGP

U.S.-based Ghanaian political commentator Kevin Taylor angrily attacked the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and leaders of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for being too weak.

Taylor, speaking on his online show ‘With All Due Respect’, expressed shock over the failure of the Ghana Police Service to act after the Minority leader in Parliament, Honourable Alexander Afenyo-Markin, was captured in a viral video assaulting a police officer.

According to Taylor, the NDC is too weak and bent on being diplomatic in their dealings with the opposition MPs. He said this would have never happened under former President Nana Akufo-Addo because he was strict and did not accept any dissent.

Taylor slammed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno as well for failure to arrest Afenyo-Markin for assaulting his officer.

Taylor warned that if no action is taken, it would send a wrong signal to young people to attack police officers since no consequences are being meted out for that action.

“The nonsense must stop….this is a promise from me to the IGP, if you don’t take action on this, I would let the world know that you are fake,” Taylor said. “Until you IGP make a decision, Afenyo-Markin is brought in and charged, I’m never going to stop this matter, because we all have seen the video.”

Taylor gave the police 24 hours to bring in Afenyo-Markin and charge him.

MP assaults police officer in viral video

The Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, Honourable Alex Afenyo-Markin, stole headlines after he was spotted in a viral video ‘assaulting’ a police officer.

The minority leader in Parliament was taking part in the ‘Save the Judiciary’ demonstration when the incident occurred.

Afenyo-Markin was seen hitting a police officer behind a barricade during a disturbance in the demonstration. He later alleged the officer assaulted him, and he was defending himself.

The Ghana Police Service later wrote to the Speaker of Parliament seeking permission for the MP to be released to assist in investigations.
