Akwaboah Responds to Critics of His Looks – ‘They Lack Common Sense’



Ghanaian musician Akwaboah has responded to critics of his looks after recent photos of his surfaced on social media.

Akwaboah was heavily attacked after he shared a photo with his wife celebrating their anniversary. The photo showed him looking haggard, with critics ascribing numerous reasons for his shocking state.

Reacting to those critics, Akwaboah shared a video, decrying the lack of common sense within the online population.

Looking bemused at being the subject of so much criticism, Akwaboah hit back: “Common sense is like deodorant, the people who really need it, they don’t use it,”

The popular singer-songwriter’s clapback at critics was warmly received by many online netizens who decried the bullying people inflict on others, all in the name of trolling.

Akwaboah’s looks cause stir

A photo of the former Sarkcess music star got social media talking as people debated the reasons for what they called his ‘old’ look.

On Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, Akwaboah shared a photo with his wife to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

“Happy Anniversary to Us Boo❤️ Moreee blessings on Our way!!!” he captioned the photo.

Social media users quickly jumped in his replies to complain about his look in the photo, with claims that he had quickly aged.

Debate raged over what might have caused him to age so quickly, with many theories ascribing it to his marriage.

Akwaboah got married to his wife, Theresa, on Friday, May 3, 2024, in a beautiful ceremony in Accra. Netizens cropped photos from the day alongside his anniversary photo to illustrate his ‘aging’. Others called for compassion as he might be battling an unknown ailment, pointing to the Chadwick Boseman story.

Notorious social media troll, Bongo Ideas jumped in, writing: “Not tryna troll buh Akwaboah go fi chop like 75. Full pensioner’s face wey small boy carry like that! Maybe he’s battling a disease; women are brave!!”

Akwaboah brushed aside the trolls, taking to Twitter to say he has no time for anyone’s opinions. “Decide for yourself when you see me in person.. Until then..we’re soo happy and busy Feeding Home,” he said.
