Ghanaian music executive Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bulldog, has revealed how he won a case against Shatta Wale, leading to the dancehall musician apologising to him.
Speaking on the Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 edition of United Showbiz, Bulldog said the case against Shatta Wale was settled in 2023, but in typical Shatta Wale fashion, he refused to do the right thing until he was forced to do so in recent weeks.
Hanson, a former manager and close associate of the self-proclaimed dancehall king, was accused by the latter of being involved in the death of late Ghanaian music executive Fennec Okyere.
During a feud between Wale and Bulldog, the ‘On God’ hitmaker went ballistic and claimed Bulldog had confessed his part in the murder of Fennec. He promised to release that information to the authorities for Bulldog to be arrested.
Bulldog in return sued Wale for defamation, seeking GHC 1m in damages.
Speaking on the legal process, Bulldog said immediately he sued Shatta Wale, the musician arrived in court with his legal team asking for an out-of-court settlement. Bulldog said he was initially reluctant to the idea, but Shatta Wale called virtually every ‘big man’ in Ghana to plead with him to accept the settlement.
After numerous meetings, they settled on an agreement acceptable to both parties, Bulldog revealed. The agreement was presented to the court in 2023, which ratified it and closed the matter.
According to Bulldog, the settlement was for Shatta Wale to render an unqualified apology to Bulldog and to cover his legal fees.
In typical Wale fashion, he refused to adhere to the terms of the settlement for about two years. Bulldog revealed he only released his apology last week after he had his lawyers pester him to do the right thing.
He added that Wale has yet to settle the legal bills, which remains the last action to be taken before he considers this matter closed.
He concluded by saying he never had any issue with Shatta Wale and that going to court was not about punishing his former artist but simply about clearing his name of those terrible allegations.
