Strictly By Invitation Demo, Only 28 Attendees – Kevin Taylor Mocks Okatakyie Afrifa’s Stop Galamsey Demonstration

U.S.-based Ghanaian political commentator, Kevin Taylor, mocked the anti-galamsey protests organised by his rival media personality, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, describing it as a ‘strictly by invitation’ demo.

Speaking on the recent episode of his online show, With All Due Respect, on his Loud Silence Media Network, Taylor said Afrifa’s demonstration had been a miserable failure, claiming it attracted only 28 people.

A group led by the former Angel FM presenter, currently host of For the Records online show, organised a ‘Stop Galamsey’ protest, starting from Monday, April 28 and intended to run for three days.

The protest occurred on Monday and was suspended on Tuesday, with organisers citing a request from law enforcement.

Coming so soon after the 2024 elections and organised by a known NPP supporter, the protest has been labelled as politically motivated. Afrifa insists his motives are pure.

Taylor, who has a bitter ongoing feud with Afrifa, spared no punches in taking down the protest.

Speaking in Twi, Taylor affected a mocking tone, saying: “Small demonstration, plenty placards. Strictly by invitation demonstration, I’ve never heard of such a thing! Only three people? Are you there to share rice or to share ‘koose’?”, he trolled.

Taylor was not done, describing the total attendance as involving exactly 28 people!. “If not for Ghana, I’ve never heard of a demonstration where you send an invite to only specific people to attend. This is complete f**lishness,”

He went ahead to accuse Afrifa of only engaging in political grandstanding. Last year, Afrifa reportedly arrested some Chinese nationals at a galamsey site and handed them over to authorities. In a chat with Paul Adom Otchere on Good Evening Ghana, Afrifa said that move, which occurred when his party was in power, spoke to his impartiality in the fight against galamsey.

Taylor rubbished all those claims, exposing Afrifa for being a no-show when called to testify in court. The controversial NPP-aligned journalist was bribed by the Chinese nationals he arrested, Taylor claimed, and as a result, refused to aid the state in prosecuting them.
