Vybz Kartel Praises Shatta Wale for Representing Ghana and Africa on the World Stage

Jamaican dancehall king, Vybz Kartel, hailed Ghanaian reggae-dancehall superstar, Charles Nii Armah Mensah aka Shatta Wale, for raising high the flag of Ghana on the global stage.

Vybz Kartel, speaking Power 105.1 Fm in the United States, praised the top Afrobeats stars putting Africa on the map and added his ‘broski’, Shatt Wale, to the mix.

Kartel was asked about the rise of Afrobeats from Africa and how it’s taken the U.S. and world market by storm and replied by praising the main Nigerian afrobeats stars.

“Big-up Wizkid. Big up Davido. Big up Burna Boy. Big up Shatta Wale. That’s my G right there, that’s my broski,” Kartel said excitedly.

He said while Nigeria gets a lot of praise for elevating African music globally, Shatta Wale also did a lot in that regard. He concluded by praising all African artists, noting that they’re all one.

“Big up Ghana, big up Nigeria. It’s one Africa, man,” said Kartel.

The bromance between Shatta Wale and Vybz Kartel has heated up recently following the latter’s release from jail. During his Freedom Concert held in Jamaica to celebrate his return to society, Kartel invited the Ghanaian reggae-dancehall star to perform. Wale stole the show as he held the Kingston crowd spellbound with his stagecraft and reverence for Vybz Kartel.

In the aftermath of the performance, Shatta Wale’s popularity exploded in Jamaica, with streams for his songs such as ‘On God’ hitting record highs. Wale has continued to praise Vybz Kartel for changing his life and the Jamaican superstar reciprocates with shout-outs for Wale during several interviews as the African ‘dancehall king’.
